Adapter works perfect
I was paying an additional charge every month to add local channels to my TV package. With this adapter I get all my local channels in the regular menu and can DVR them with no additional charge to my bill. Took about 2 minutes to install inline and wish I had done this years ago. Highly recommend AAA++

Easily Integrate OTA Channels into Your Dish Guide for Viewing and/or Recording
Works as intended. Able to add OTA channels directly into the Hopper and Dish guide for easy viewing and ability to record two OTA channels simultaneously to Hopper. One of the major networks were removed from Dish programming in our area, but we were able to utilize an OTA antenna along with this device to add it to the Dish guide ensuring we could record programs easily (just like the channel was still broadcast from Dish). We also were able to find several dozen additional OTA channels that are available in our area. Only reason for 4-star rating is that it seems several of the channels that we could tune-in on tv were not recognized by this tuner (assuming that they had weaker signals, and this tuner just didn't capture them even though our tv tuner was able to). Another issue that is most likely due to the broadcast signal itself (perhaps programming info is not transmitted by broadcaster) and not due to this tuner, is that the guide info wasn't available/correct for all the channels. If you have a lot of OTA channels available in your area or face a similar issue with a Dish versus local broadcaster dispute, this tuner along with an OTA antenna is worth it to integrate these channels into your Dish Hopper Guide.

So far so Good
Read the reviews for this OTA adapter. Was apprehensive about the reports of it over heating. This was not the case in my experience. The adapter is slightly warm but nothing near to being hot to touch. The Hopper 3 recognized the OTA adapter immediately. My antenna is mounted outside and is powered with a signal amplifier. (Won't work unless it's turned on) Thought this would be an issue with overheating, not the case. Plugged unit into the USB 2.0 port in the back of the Hopper. (3.0 was available, not sure what would be different). Was able to add more than 20 Channels into the Dish Guide. Was easy to follow. Best part of its feature. Local stations come in just as clear as the Dish channels. Some locals are broadcast in 480i ... beware. Also, I have splitters feeding four TVs throughout... (rarely use them) there was not a problem with signal loss between them. Can watch different TV's on different channels and record with the Hopper at the same time. Recommend the adapter, assuming my experience is based on attaching the OTA Adapter on a New Smart Samsung TV and the Hopper 3 combo, cannot say this would be the same for older models.

Saves $12 Monthly
I just installed my new Dish OTA Tuner to the rear of my Hopper 3 DVR USB port several days ago. Works as described. I can DVR two local channels at the same time and play them back later while skipping the commercials just like any other channel on my Hopper. It does not come with instructions, I just followed the instructions found on YouTube and elsewhere online. After scanning for channels you are able to see a small Signal Scale next to each channel found. This signal scale is very helpful in pointing your antenna(s). In my area I have two very strong TV receiving directions. All my UHF channels are to the northwest and I have one VHF channel 11 (Fox) to the south. I was able to combine both antennas into one using a Winegard CC-7870 Antenna Coupler found here on Amazon and then into the Dish OTA Adapter. Don't forget to add the OTA channels to your Hopper's FAVORITE CHANNELS selection, otherwise you may wonder where your channels went.Other people complain about the heat generated by the OTA Adapter in their reviews. I have to say I do not have a powered preamp on my antennas...just two straight RG6 coax cables from each antenna. I attached a photo here I took of the Adapter while using an Infrared Thermometer gun to measure the temperature. The temperature after several days plugged in was 97.4 degrees, "warm"... but not hot to the touch. All in all, I would recommend this adapter. It will save me the $12 monthly charge that Dish charges you for local channels each and every month (you must contact Dish or do so online to remove your local channel package) and since I already had the antennas and cabling as a backup to the Dish Satellite service I cannot count that as an extra expense, but it may be for you. See my review for the Winegard CC-7870 for a better understanding of my personal antenna system I use.

Works Very Well / Stop paying for Local Channels
After scanning for local channels, they all show up in the "guide" on the Hopper. Not all channels are populated with fine details but when we were paying for local channels through dish, MANY of the OTA stations were not included at all.
