Art of Destiny (Art of the Game): 1

This a piece of real beautiful artwork, from the character design, the scenarios, the vehicles and weapons... it's strange how having such a wonderful and detailed new IP, Bungie really screwed things up, making a "no-brainer" game, were the focus should be on the story/stories instead of just chasing loot a killing aliens. Besides the awsome artwork, the boook per-se is probably the best printed artbook around, with a glossy and shinning page treatment that make the illustrations pop out of the pages. Wonderful book indeed.

Although destiny is by far one of the most disappointing games ever one thing did not disappoint. The art and design of the game is so fantastic and inspiring that it was the reason I started digital painting and concept design. The artwork in this book is a selection of the best pieces put towards the games development. You can see as the game goes from its early conception to the last designs of the areas you can visit on your quest. The art team have done a fantastic job. It is some if not the best video game artistry I have seen and even surpasses that of halo. If you haven't played the game in truth you are better for it. I couldn't help feeling disappointed as I saw the jaw dropping work on display knowing that it never made it to the final game because of order from activision. They have spoiled what from the looks of this book to be an incredible universe. It's hard not to get sucked in to a universe thriving with almost limitless ideas. If your a fan of art or games or just want a book that showcases the good side of a disappointing game buy it now. And to all those at bungie who worked on in the art team for this game, thank you for inspiring me to take concept art and help me get to where I am today at art school.

One word: Beautiful. I never imagined that I would ever order a book on a video game art design. It is a very well printed book that shows the creation of this new IP. A cannot imagine how hard it mus be to create a whole new world from scratch starting with a blank paper. Show this book to anyone who does not think video games are an art!

Overall the book contains many original concepts and final designs, and is put together very well, containing all of the artists names and comments on most pieces. It has a lot more pages than I originally thought it would and is very good value for money.

Bought for Destiny fanatic. Absolutely stunning print quality, fabulous quality book and images with the story behind the creation and development of Destiny. There's written information too from Bungie about the artwork and how it evolved, the book is split into chapters about different parts of the game. But it's the images that grab you. What amazing talent. A must have for those who love the game and those who just appreciate the artwork. Came wrapped in cellophane so absolutely perfect when opened and had that lovely 'crisp print' aroma that all good photographic books have. Lush.

Destiny is a wonderfully created world, with interesting characters and locations and the art work contained in this book is perfectly reflected by the games developers Bungie. It's a large book packed with beautiful pieces of work. If you're a fan of Destiny and appreciate the artistic side of a games development, then I certainly recommend this fine book.

I have been buying 'The Art Of' movie books for years now and It would appear that there is a shift now towards gaming. Although I know little about all the video games out there I have to say that it is great seeing these books, that have been coming out in recent years. I have a few and find them really inspiring. This one arrived yesterday and after a brief flick though the pages I have to say that I am blown over. This is not a proper review as I am not qualified to do so but if you love design drawings/renderings and concept future paintings then this is the book for you. The quality of the artwork is by far the best I have seen in recent years. A real gem of a book!! Five stars!!!

Simply stunning Art Book if your a fan of the game itself! It's great seeing all the concept art and early illustrations of a major city etc. Was pretty much glued to this and looked/read everything in one sitting. Really great addition to any gamers art book collection. Simply A Must Have! Great price too! 😉

...dass ich in meiner Sammlung gern neben dem "The Art of Uncharted Trilogy" stelle. Schöne Konzeptgrafiken auf qualitativ hochwertigem Papier bei einem rundum schönem Hardcover. Einziges Manko wäre vielleicht das FAST quadratische Format, weshalb das Buch ein wenig seltsam im Regal steht, aber das soll an der Wertung jetzt nichts rütteln. Ich schaue mir gern immer wieder mal die Grafiken an, schnappe Ideen auf in meinem Designstudium und bin froh, mir das Buch gekauft zu haben. Nicht nur für Fans von dem Spiel selber zu empfehlen, sondern auch für diejenigen, die auf Sci-Fi stehen, welcher zudem gut durchdacht und relativ realistisch gehalten ist. Top! :)

The book is really great, I'm in love with it. Starting with the dustcover, the surface is smooth and velvety to the touch, at first I just rubbed it a lot. The hardcover is snow white and decorated with glossy transparent print of three guardians, which looks very beautiful. The inside is full of great arts. Many of them I already saw on the Internet, but most are new to me. The quality of paper and print is superb, all pictures are vivid and sharp, it's real pleasure to just thumb the book through. Lots of commentaries from the artists. The layout is quite good, but some pictures are small, but anyway are good enough to see the details. Many of the arts is what you see in the game, but I was really glad to find out that the book includes some production concepts showing creatitу research. I would say that the book is awesome, I would recommend it to all guardians of the City.

Este libro de arte lo compré en conjunto con The Poster Collection, y no pude estar más feliz con la calidad de ambos productos. Hablando específicamente de este (ya que el otro ya también le escribí su respectiva reseña), tiene una calidad de impresión impecable, además de que la pasta dura con el repujado y su encuadernación lo hacen sentir una publicación muy resistente. En el podemos encontrar imágenes que ya conocemos del juego, así como arte conceptual de algunos elementos y el diseño gráfico que acompaña al título. Algo que los fans de Destiny no pueden perderse.
