I'd read the good reviews on here for the Linx 1010B but had ...
Having only received this today I will update as time progresses.I currently own a Kindle Fire HDX 8.9" which has caused me no end of grief so I was looking to replace it with something that actually worked! I'd read the good reviews on here for the Linx 1010B but had seen "cheap" tablets in the past and they were very disappointing so I didn't have very high expectations. My main pc is self built for gaming so I'm used to normal stuff like web browsing being instant (something the kindle wasn't).1) The tablet is heavy and I've found myself rearranging my hands frequently today whilst holding it. It also gets pretty toasty.2) The speakers are disappointing both in quality and volume. Through headphones the sound is excellent, great quality and the volume will go higher than any human could possibly need.3) The touchscreen is very responsive, I have no complaints about the colours or brightness. HD quality videos look great. Text is perfectly legible but I think I've been spoilt by the kindles screen as it's definitely not as sharp.4) Windows 10 is very responsive, everything I've tried opens quickly. Cortana setup warns that the built in microphone might not be up to the job but it's working just fine for me.5) The keyboard was a nice surprise. I wasn't expecting much but it feels very nice and I haven't noticed any delay with typing. It's certainly much easier than using the onscreen keyboard but obviously not really usable unless sat down at a table. The "mouse" is fine, good DPI and the sensitivity feels just right. Buttons are also easy to use.I've spent a good few hours today setting it up for my liking. Being Windows it syncs with my MS account so it automatically set my wallpaper, taskbar position and set up onedrive. No issues at all downloading and installing various programs. Put Firefox on and synced with my account so all my bookmarks, passwords etc are already there. Basically I'm looking at a mirror image of my desktop pc now which is perfect. Comes with Windows 10 Home 32bit preinstalled, some updates to do including a build update which took a while but all were done pretty quickly. With the keyboard attached you can still use the touchscreen at the same time which can be quicker than trying to click on things. So, at the moment I am very impressed by the speed of the tablet which is the main thing really. It's a shame it's on the weighty side but how much that bothers you will depend on how you use it.Update 05/01/16Having spent a full day with the Linx 1010B I'm still very happy with it. I used it in bed last night which is the furthest point away from the router and had no issues with wifi signal strength. I was also able to use it on my lap with keyboard attached and didn't experience the problems that some people report of the tablet and keyboard disconnecting. I struggle to see how that's even possible as the connection feels physically strong. For the few reporting viruses and trojans either it's false positives, they're going on dodgy websites or it's flat out rubbish. The tablet ships with a fresh install of Windows which when you first turn on you have to set up, exactly the same as if you'd just installed it fresh on a desktop pc. Asking Microsoft to sort it for you is a complete joke and paying them to do it even more so. Having spoken to Microsoft online support in the past they seem to know very little and are clearly googling answers. There are numerous FREE antivirus and antimalware programs that you yourself can use should you get into such a situation. The battery is a slow charge, it's doesn't support fast charge like most modern smartphones have these days but I am in the habit of charging devices at night whilst I'm asleep. I plugged it in to charge at 27% battery left and when I awoke 7hrs later it was fully charged which is what'd I'd expect. The included manual, which incidentally is actually quite useful if you're new to Windows and is in perfect fluent english recommends that you only use the supplied charger and cable. The supplied charger is 5.0v 2A so I can't really see any reason why you couldn't use any charger rated the same and the cable is a normal USB to micro USB cable. Not hugely long but not too short either, I had no problem with it reaching the socket whilst charging it on the bedside table. There are things you can do to prolong battery life, as with all devices that have a screen, brightness has a large impact so experiment with the brightness, also the tablet starts up and shuts down very quickly so if you're not going to be using it for a while then Start -> Power -> Shutdown rather than just pressing the power button to put it asleep. Simply put though, the more you do on it, the quicker the battery will drain. I could drain 50% on my kindle fire hdx very quickly just playing a game for a short while. It's just something we have to put up with until technology improves. My other half has a samsung galaxy tablet and she actually uses it plugged in because of how fast the battery drains.I've not had any problems with rotation but personally I use it in landscape format anyway.Having tried the built in speakers in a quiet environment they are actually fine on the volume front, it's just in a noisy environment the volume can't compete.I'm used to just using a tablet without a physical keyboard but having the option is changing how I use a tablet. I'm finding the hybrid experience much nicer to use and am keeping the keyboard attached all the time.I think a lot of the bad reviews are people not understand how a) hardware works and b) how Windows works. Android tablets have spoilt people as you don't need to know anything to use one. There's 2 types of people, those who want technology to "just work" and those who have an active interest. If you want it to just work then Windows will never be for you regardless of what device it is running on, it requires a lot more user input than android does but then again Windows does a lot more than android can do. You'd freak out if someone ever gave you a device with a Linux distribution on it.What it comes down to is If you like your tech, have a pc and are very familiar with Windows then you'll be happy with this tablet otherwise a Windows based tablet is not for you and you need to be looking for an Android tablet, of which there are many.

A quality tablet, at a quality price.
This review is for the Linx 1010B 10.1" Tablet with Keyboard.I have to say, this was a little bit of an impulse purchase. I've had plenty of experience with a variety of iPads and Android tablets, but never have used a Windows tablet. I've had several Windows phones and have really liked their simplicity and ease of use, but sadly they've been let down by a lack of apps.Having put the tablet through the first three weeks of heavy use, I have to say that it is one of the best purchases I've made in a long time. Yes, it has a couple of minor flaws, but for £140 it is a really great tablet. I'd certainly recommend this product to friends / family. For those wanting more details on the products:***What comes with it?:***- The Linx 1010B Tablet.- A UK Plug to USB Adaptor.- A USB to Micro USB Lead.- Removable Keyboard.- Instruction Manuals. (Although they're a little vague).***The Unboxing and Initial Setup:***The tablet and keyboard came in two rather attractive boxes. Both boxes displayed a picture of the product and contained product specifications on the back. I like the minimalistic designs, and the boxes gave the impression that they contained a high quality product. The presentation inside the box continued this trend, with everything neatly arranged. My tablet came with charge in the battery, so it was a simple case of turning it on and following the Windows 10 setup instructions. This process was painless, and took no more than fifteen minutes. Certainly on par with Apple / Androids products.Attaching the keyboard is also painless, it was literally a case of connect the two together and the drivers were automatically installed. A process that took under a minute. The tablet came pre-installed with Office Mobile (although I uninstalled and instead put a full version of office on), alongside the usual Windows programs and tools.***Program Compatibility / Device Compatibility:***As the tablet runs a 32 bit version of Windows 10 Home edition, it will run most standard Windows program. I've installed Office 2013 alongside programs such as Skype, Teamspeak, Firefox and a few games. The loading times for these programs is respectable, and I've had no crashes or issues as of yet.Because this tablet has a 2gb processor, it's important to note that it is unlikely to be able to run Photoshop or any AAA games. There aren't many tablets out there capable of running such programs, and certainly not for such a great price. As for device compatibility, the Linx 1010B features two full size USB ports. These can be used to plug any USB device in, such as a USB stick, a USB printer or a removable hard drive. This allows you to put files onto the tablet without needing an internet connection. You are also able to plug a full mouse and keyboard into the tablet if you so wish. For those that have been wondering what MicroSD card it will take, then I've been using SanDisk Ultra Android 64 GB microSDXC Memory Card plus SD Adapter up to 80 MB/s, Class 10 FFP [Newest Version] with no issues at all. I've found a 64 GB MicroSD card provides the best GB to Pound ratio. There is no reason that a 128 GB card won't work, and several other reviewers have stated that they've had no issues using a 128 GB card.***The Screen:***The screen on this device has a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. This isn't quite the same as 1080p HD resolution but it is still crystal clear and has a wide viewing angle. Great if you want to use it to watch films in bed etc. The quality is certainly better than either of my laptop screens.***Battery Life:***The tablet has lasted around eight hours with light use (checking emails, browsing the internet etc), and around five when I'm using it for games.***Summary:***This is a great tablet for the price. I've never had such a good full Windows experience for the price, and I'd certainly consider buying a Linx tablet again. The build quality and performance for the price is amazing.

Great value piece of kit which gives a true PC experience
Linx 1010B 10.1 inch Tablet with keyboardI have had the tablet now for 24 hours and I am very happy with it. For the price, I cannot rate it less than 5 stars at the minute. Lovely packaging, easy to set up and took about 90 minutes to get to full charge before I switched it on. I used it connect to a virtual machine in my head office without any issues and performance was as good as from my own work laptop. Applications run well on it and the battery life looks excellent so far: 8 to 9 hours on first use with light browsing and some use of YouTube. I haven't used it so much as a tablet but when I did the look and feel is fine although a little heavy. I would say if use you are looking for a lightweight tablet to be used more as a tablet go for the 8inch version. If you dock it in the keyboard use 'ctrl+alt+right arrow key' to switch to landscape as it doesn't seem to want to switch automatically even when I adjusted settings. Some minor issues would be the keyboard needing to be activated unless you are happy to keep it docked at all times. The cursor does sometimes jump about when typing but I am going to blame my poor lighting as it happens on my laptop too. I am not going in to any great level of technical detail as it is what it is, a windows 10 machine with a good battery life that can be used on the go. If there are any issues I will update later.update after a couple of weeks the keyboard is not working correctly. i am returning keyboard only. it types like this: "th5s 5s h6w the 2eyb6ard ty/es n6w", "this is how the keyboard types now" so looks like a multiplexing issue. i will get one replacemnet and se how that goes, 4 stars from 5 for hassle. overall still a good tablet for price.
