Manufacturer's Description EDITABLE GRAPHIC TEXTUse any font installed on your Mac to create graphic headlines or other decorative elements. All of the effects above can be applied to the text""even on a character by character basis. Use advanced kerning, tracking, baseline shift, and more to refine your typographical message. Use any color or combination of colors you like. When you publish, a graphic will be created out of the text. The text remains editable within Freeway.TRANSPARENCYFreeway 5 takes the idea of a fully transparent graphic compositing engine to the next level. Any object on the page, even characters of type, can have transparency or variable opacity. When you overlap two transparent objects, Freeway will either composite them together, or maintain them as separate layered objects in the final layout. Anti-aliasing to blend overlapping colors is automatically calculated.UNICODE""BECAUSE IT'S NOT SUCH A SMALL, SMALL, WORLDUnicode text allows you to mix characters from many languages within a single line of text. Visitors to your site don't need to have special fonts for each language, or to select the page language from a list""it just works. Each Unicode font can contain tens of thousands of characters or glyphs.

Superb value for money
If you are a Mac user and want to produce good looking websites without buying an anorak and learning lots of horrid code, Freeway is the answer to a prayer! iWeb and Rapidweaver are great little apps but you're limited to using someone else's template - so your site looks like everyone else's. Not so with Freeway! You can start with a blank page and knock up a nice page in much the same as using any page layout tool like Swift Publisher or Publisher (on the PC). Freeway takes care of generating the code and it does it so well that you even get a Gold Anorak Award from W3C to add to your pages! There are a few niggles though. Some features such as rollovers can be frustrating to implement where multi layer graphics are used. Also I have found it does crash occasionally, so regular saves are a good idea. Also, if you do actually know a little code, getting it into your page can be fiddly - much more so than in something like Dreamweaver. Having said all that, Freeway Express is amazingly cheap and good value for money.I thoroughly recommend Freeway Express. Anyone with a creative bent and used to DTP apps will be up and running in no time.

Great Programme for Website Virgins
I've never designed and built a website before; I don't know code (and I don't intend to learn it); I own an Apple Mac. These three factors severely limited my choice of software, but Freeway 5 Express has come riding to my rescue. It's very easy to learn, especially if you begin by working your way through the tutorials in the excellent (hard copy) manual supplied with the disc. If you get into difficulties the Help features are great: the comprehensive online KnowledgeBase sorts most things out and, for those tricky little problems, there's a well used forum - you can be sure you're not the first to run into a particular problem and other users are only too willing to share their experience. The guys at tech support have been great, and got me out of a couple of holes, such as: providing workarounds when I couldn't import downloaded actions the way it says in the KnowledgeBase, and helping me upload the completed website to my server space when I was tearing my hair out!All in all, a very simple to use programme - it has certainly taken much of the black art out of web design and encouraged me to build more sites in the future.
