It is not accurate and its not user friendly.

A stud finder finds studs. Not this one, or at least I can't seem to find I'm with this tool. You turn on, calibrate by holding the calibrate button for a few seconds then slide it looking for the screen to indicate the first edge then center of the stud.Simple enough but no matter what settings I use the stud just isn't where this tool says it it.This is going back

My old stud finder would find studs without any problem, but was not designed to find pipes or live wiring. This is a big improvement. It finds the studs, water pipes and any live AC wiring.It did not find my coax cables or my Cat5e cabling for the TVs and internet (and did not claim it would), but it did find any live AC wiring.You can switch to metal mode and it will find metal pipes. It was able to find my water lines through the tile in the bathroom, but it could not find them in my office on the other side of the bathroom wall. I know where the water lines are because we remodeled the bathroom last year and the water lines were exposed. I imagine the pipes are too far from my office wall to be detected, so they would probably be safe in case I had to penetrate that wall for any reason.This was a big upgrade over my old stud finder and as cheap as these new ones are, I probably should have upgraded years ago.The unit feels solid and has substantial weight and size. Since I'm over 6'2", the size fits nicely in my hands. If someone has small hands or has to carry it while on their job, the size could be a little cumbersome. Since I have large hands and am retired, it works great for me.
