Well-written and gripping memoir
I enjoy Maggie Hartley's books even though I seem to be reading them out of chronological order. ( I would like to read about when she started fostering Lily and Louisa, as well as Tess and Sam, and when she gave birth to Pete) The story of Jess, Darren and Baby Jimmy was very gripping, and full of details about the situation and the social service system. I commend Maggie for her hard work and generosity looking after and teaching Jess about baby care, caring for the baby and supporting Jess and Darren when they were assessed. Also Maggie spoke up for the young couple in front of the social service board. While I was not so sure that the young parents could truly raise this child, since they knew little about babies, and could barely look after themselves, Maggie was confident they could.I did not particularly care for Darren with his temper outbursts, refusal to give up smoking and generally poor attitude. The ending is a surprise one. I would like to know how they are doing now. Keep writing, Maggie!

Amazing
It is amazing that this teenage couple endured to become a family. If we're not for Maggie their carer's help and belief in them it wouldn't have happened. She is an amazing person who is truly dedicated to the children in her care.

You'll Want to Read More by This Author
Author Maggie Hartley is both a talented writer and care-giver in the Foster care system. Thankfully she has written several books, all of which you'll want to read. This story details how a young mother fought to prove she was a good parent and gain custody of her son.Along with telling their story, Maggie gives glimpses of what it's like to work in Foster Care. She takes you through the trials and joys and explains some of what makes a good foster parent.I will definitely keep buying and reading more by this author.

Excellent book
Maggie writes much like Cathy Glass. For anyone who has read all of Cathy Glass's books. Please try Maggie Hartley's book. They are well written and leaves you thinking about it when you have had to lay it down for a short time.

Give a Chance
A sincere desire paid off. The young mother was willing to do the work needed even if she messed up along the way.
