Roughneck ROU65510 Twister Wood Splitting Wedge 2.3kg (5lb)

After reading the reviews I wasn’t sure about buying this item. But I’m so glad I did, it’s excellent. Does take a bit of getting used to and I found that starting it with a club hammer to get it positioned correctly was the best way, then getting the sledge hammer. I was splitting some damp 600mm diameter logs about 300mm thick and did them so much easier and a lot less effort than with an axe.

I had been struggling to chop ash logs about 18inched wide. My axe would eventually split them after many many strikes and enormous effort. This wedge is beautiful. Every log split with far less effort and quickly. Love it!

Arrived in good condition, have used it, works well once you have a groove in the wood, if it is a hard wood cut a groove with a chainsaw then use the splitter, with soft wood works no problem, hold it then knock in a bit then use sledge hammer.

I have two Wood Grenade splitting wedges like thishttps://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00002N801that I cannot find. So as I needed something to help me split some logs I thought that I would get something different, so that when I find the Wood Grenades I will have another option.This was very good once it was in a decent crack but was really hard to get started. I have never had any real trouble getting the Wood Grenades (which have a point not an edge) started in a log but this was very difficult repeatedly, in different pieces of wood. In the end I gave up trying to start this on a log and used an old, and rather blunt, hand-axe to make a start. Once I had done that and had a decent crack into which to put this it worked very well and did twist and split the wood wide open.I was using this in holm oak that was over three years old and I have never split any of that before so that may be part of the problem.

Great piece of kit I have been splitting wood for many years and always used an axe when splitting larger rings, these wedges made the job so much quicker (purchased 2).

Great wedge that twists as it goes in so works better than conventional wedge or grenade / bomb type wedge on large knotty logs. Needs a 4lb hammer really to drive it in to difficult logs though which gets tiring after a while.

I used this for the first time in anger today. It's a great shape and has a good twist to it.However, I was splitting one log about 1.2m long and by the time I'd finished, the wedge was in four pieces. It's a shame but just fell to bits.I was splitting green hard wood and it was only being tonked by a 4.5lb lump hammer, rather than a full length 10lb sledge. Pretty poor really.

Cuña muy sólida y grande. Es recomendable acompañar con una cuña más pequeña para empezar a astillar , de esta manera funciona a la perfección.

Se la legna si vuole spaccare si spacca, se non si vuole spaccare non si spacca. C'è un nodo? Devi faticare. C'è il cavallo? prendi la motosega.Per il resto buon prodotto, forse meglio di quelli dritti.
