great detail level
You may notice on Amazon that there are two types of OS Map the pink one and the orange. The pink ones are 1:50000 scale which covers a greater area but with less detail. The orange one (this one) is 1:25000 scale which means that it covers a smaller area but gives you a much better level of detail. If you're planning on using this for walks or cycle routes then I would recommend the orange ('Explorer Map') as it details the paths, where fields divide, pubs, campsites, etc...These are very clear and well worth the money.

Great scale for walking
There are more features listed in the Key and an explanation of how to work out / find grid references. The scale of 1:25000 is very good to use when walking> The map came with a mobile download option, I haven't done this as I already have Google maps, WalkMeter and MapMyWalk on my iPhone, so along with the paper map I've got most things I need for a walk covered.

They really are 'Explorer' maps
These really are 'Explorer' maps. Great for cycling and walking. Loads of detail, including some information on historical land marks. With these you don't need a walk book, you just plan your own and you can see the ups and downs. We always buy these before going on holiday to an area. A lot cheaper to buy in advance on-line than the local shop price when you get there.

OS Map
This was a Christmas present request.I was delighted when the OS map arrived; it has a nice waterproof protective layer which is ideal for the walker who will be using this map.I love all OS maps and know this one will be well received.

getting around
It will take a while to complete a really huge pile of Landranger and Explorer maps but they are fascinating, almpst a 'geekish' read. The collection is growing steadily though, and they have all arrived as expected.

Still the best for hiking
These maps list every detail down to every fence dividing properties. We used them walking the Ridgeway trail and could easily tell exactly where we were and plan side trips for lunch. Cell service is rare off the beaten path and these were essential. It takes this one plus Abingdon to cover Ridgeway. Get both.
