finally organized
Now that typewriters have gone the way of the 8-track player, I needed something to print file folder labels, as I did in the 'old days'. Avery, of course, always comes through. The paper is very thick, heavy stock - after folding the two sides with the adhesive backing, both sides stick together to make it even heavier. I also supplemented it by putting the 'cardboard' insert that comes with the make-your-own Pendaflex folders/tabs in between before adhering together. The template is available online on the Avery site -- which makes it super simple to 'type' on using your computer and Word program. As others may have mentioned, the alignment is a bit off -- but that didn't bother me (although I should have printed one test tab first, but did not) - since one side is perfect [and the only side you view anyway]; the other side needs an extra space on top -- which is easy enough to correct. Printing from my ink-jet printer (using the manual rear slot) was also a cinch - and my printer can be finicky; but it took one 'jam' message - remove, re-insert, good to go.For years I have used an old expanding file for my monthly bills -- using sticky notes to indicate the contents. Of course, they fall off after a few months -- but it did allow for some level of flexibility. Finally I decided it was time to get organized -- but maintain that element of flexibility. Hanging folders with easily changeable Pendaflex tabs, to the rescue! Now, with these inserts you really do not even need to use the plastic inserts that come with the Pendaflex folders - as a matter of fact, the plastic tab covers really don't fit exactly right - but I decided to put the Avery tabs in the plastic to resist wear and tear anyway. Since these Avery tabs are so sturdy you can just slide them into the Pendaflex slots without the clear plastic -- it probably won't hold up as well, but it does look a bit nicer if visual presentation is more important.

Not as sturdy/thick as they once were. Hard to fold precisely
These are a far inferior version of a previous product Avery sold where the material was more of a printable vinyl versus this thin laminated material given itโs thin gauge, along with its sticky adhesive, they are hard to fold exactly in half. If you donโt, in all likelihood you will not be able to slide one or both ends of the tab into your folder. Will not be buying these ever again.

Barely Functional
I hate to write negative reviews but I feel like this product missed the mark. What I was originally searching for when I found this item was perforated inserts that I could print on a laser printer, tear off, and put inside some clear, pendaflex tabs. To my knowledge, that product does not exist. I'd love to see Avery or a competitor create an item like that with a downloadable word template.I found this product and thought I'd give it a try. My first complaint is that these are stickers that must be removed from the page and carefully assembled before inserted into the grooves of the pendaflex folder. This take a tremendous amount of time to carefully make the two sides line up perfectly. I'm not sure if I'm actually saving any time at all by using this in comparison to my Excel-based method of printing a sheet, cutting out the labels, and inserting into the plastic holders. The second complaint is that the quality of these labels is great and terrible at the same time. I would absolutely love the quality if I wanted stickers; they seem smooth, well-cut, and hide background color. Unfortunately, I wanted tabs. When these are folded and used as intended, they result in a flimsy tab that sticks straight up. I know other reviewers also complained about how these stick straight up instead of an angle like the plastic holders. I thought it was something I would get used to but you really have to finger through all of the tabs to read the correct folder. It is rather annoying to not be able to see the folder I want immediately. I feel like they would be better if made out of a thicker cardstock. The tabs corners want to bend instead of being inserted into the grooves of the hanging folders.Thirdly, the template for this set is not pre-built into Word. You must download the template online or download the Avery plugin for Word. Each label allows you to label both sides. The template does not automatically mirror the content on one side to the next. You will have to copy and paste the information from one side to the next (or delete the placeholder text on the back side to have a blank side). My suggestion for those looking for what I was looking for: Look elsewhere or print, cut, and insert your own labels. If you want oddly shaped stickers that have an awkward template, then these could be what you want.

Hanging File Folder Labels
These things are great. I like them so much better than the regular ones that would normally come with the hanging file folders.

Not "Tabs" As Advertized - They're Just Labels
These things are sad. If you try to use them as tabs: they sit straight up so they're difficult to read. Trying to use them as tabs, they're so floppy that it's sometimes hard to get them into the 1/5 cut slots. Additionally, for some reason, they go into some hanging folders lopsidedly, possibly because these "tabs" are tricky to fold exactly, and the glue won't allow you to reposition, so the "tab" isn't perfect.Avery used to have a product, hanging file tabs 05226. Those were really tabs! Just fold and put them in the hanging folder. With these, you can see many reviewers are still using the plastic tab shields that come with new hanging folders. Just use the free labels that also come with new hanging folders, why bother with these?
