Not as engaging or kid friendly as I thought it ...
Not as engaging or kid friendly as I thought it would be. I had to assist my 9 year old with practically every activity.

Cute idea, a bit pricey...
Love the idea here. Cute box with cute ideas and some neat little goodies inside to create crafts. The only problem is that most of the stuff included is already laying around the house if you do crafts a lot anyway. My daughter is a craft maker and loves this kit, she loves that the rules are vague. She likes to make stuff out of thin air anyway. This week she made a shower and bathroom for her fairies using an amazon box and she had me print some marble images she found online and then she glued the marble sheets of paper on the inside walls of the "shower..." You get the idea.So this kit was fun for her, but the price seems really steep for what you do get inside. You are basically paying for the box, the instructions and someone putting it together in a nice package. I think it would make a great GIFT for a child who likes crafts for birthday or Christmas. It would be appreciated and the price isn't so high that it is expensive by any means, its just a lot for what is in the box. If that makes sense. So good gift, not so great of a bargain for a parent to buy for their kid.

The best craft box I've found.
This is our second Craft-tastic Tinker box.As with our first one, this one comes with a wide assortment of craft supplies, all of good quality. The supplies are also color coordinated in shades of black and yellow.*Someone* will be crafting a bumble bee. This particular set is intended for children a bit older than was our first set: age 8 and up, which seems about right to me.The thing that sets these Tinker Boxes apart is the inclusion of seven "idea" cards. These cards suggest a project then ask four questions about what you would like your project to do.Rather than seeing the idea cards as a detriment to personal creativity, I consider them to be a catalyst. The Tinker Boxes are truly fun for the whole family. Better than a game or puzzle, these creativity boxes draw us out, get us into a cooperative spirit, and produce *toys* we can all tinker with.

Fun kit for creative kids
I'm giving this a five-star review with the proviso that it is best for those kids who have a creative edge. Less creative kids will find they need more supervision and at least some prodding to get them started. I really like the materials provided–there are papers and color coordinated material like wooden beads and spools that your buffing artist or designer will love. Most of the end-products will be more assemblages, and not really tinker-toy like constructions. With little suggestion from the directions and the box, most kids will get the idea. Some might complain that the price is a bit high since you could assemble the components from a craft store. However, for my money, this is a nice kit that assembles some hard to find parts and saves me a ton of time (also everything is color coordinated which I would have loved as a budding young artist).

Keeps kids busy
This Tinker Box is a great idea. It comes with everything needed to build some very creative projects. Yes, it is possible to buy these things on your own and build you own kit, but it is nice to have everything in one place. This is the kind of thing that can really save young kids from fighting with each other when they get bored. My son was playing with his best friend (and neighbor) when they started to lash out at each other because they could not agree on what to do next. Enter the Tinker Box! For the next few hours, the worked together to build some of the items in challenges. They were calm and happy to be doing something fun. This might be a “rainy day” item. It can help in any situation where kids need to do something together. That makes it a good purchase.

Very Crafty, less "tinker" related.
I misunderstood what this was because it says in large print "Tinker Box". This feels like one of those boxes of random leftover craft items that you have laying around your house, only they have cute designs on everything and instructions on more specific things to do. Tinker at our house is something different. My kids weren't super impressed. They are possibly too old for this at 9 and 10. For this price, I recommend getting something more science related off steve spangler, or even look at his ideas and do it with things you have around home. If you are a grandma and are looking for a gift for the true tinkerer, I recommend Little Bits or for the younger kids snap circuits. This felt way too basic for us, and too crafty, not enough tinker.

Crafty kid kit.
This is a nice kit, ready for a crafty child. My kids make things out of all the stuff that I consider trash, they love gluing, cutting assembling basically anything craft related. I was thinking this box was kind of like a science tinker kit but really it is like a glorified craft box, I think it would be good for rainy or hot days indoors, days off school or basically anytime a child has down time. It was fun to see what they came up with on their own, my 7 year old really liked it and she is the one in the house who loves creating her own experiments and recycling trash. Her older sister did one but then seemed kind of bored. I am thinking this would be ideal for ages 6-9, maybe 10.
