very good
every bit as good as its companion central heating fault finding & repair by the same author. I originally served an apprenticeship as a sheetmetal coppersmith when I first left school a long time ago so have had many years experience working with varying diameters of pipe most of it however in the vehicle industry. So I have found the books very informative regarding pipe sizing for an installation, however domestic gas fitting is a serious business having attended a course for 12 months, peoples lives are at risk if you are not competent and confident you only need to get it wrong once the gas regs read like a novel, unlike plumbing you could find yourself up on a manslaughter charge if it all went horribly wrong. However there a plenty of plumbers out there who will fit a boiler plus all the gas pipe work but get a gas fitter in to do the final connection, and commission the appliance. Sound advice if you are in any way unsure. Also invest in at least a U gauge to be able to do a tightness test a soap solution to test for leaks is not enough.

Amazing. Brilliant. Fantastic. Thumbs up
Im a gas and heating engineer with over 10yrs hands on experience. Working on breakdowns for 8yrs.This book is an excellent reference point for existing engineers and for beginners. It covers everything from the basics down to the detail stuff.I had a viper gas book plus a whole load of other books as ref points. Not any more, this does it all. Very simple to understand. Breaks things down in bitesize sections.

Ok if only interested in old combination boilers
Book is ok but some of details are dated such as pope sizing is in correct. There is no info on a rated boilers. The book is ok for a new entry has engineer who wants a very basic knowledge of how the older combination boilers work.

Excellent
If you're working on older boilers and new to trade well worth it.

Easy to read very helpful
Bought this as since passing my gas, you only start learning about breakdowns when your on site, this is great for giving you the best ways of fixing problems with what could occur. Not only is this great for the trade but people who want to know about what could be wrong with their boiler or system. Easy to read and to follow with good pictures.

Good
This book is a great purchese for anyone new to fault finding, I bought it for ohms measurements of thermistors etc and am happy. It will also make a great guide for an apprentice or my son when he comes into the business.

Great book, even just as a reference.
Takes the mystery out of the World of Heat Engineering. Used the book to pinpoint an issue with a flow switch. Paid for itself with that alone. A little concerning though that some might be tempted to fiddle with gas related stuff, as the book explains a lot about this side of a boiler's operation. My moral... if it hisses, leave it alone.
