Savic Hamster Heaven Navy Blue Hamster Cage, 80 x 50 x 50 cm

I just bought a Hamster Heaven for my new rescue Syrian Buttercup after reading the reviews here and on Hamster Central. Thought I would give my input. The cage is slightly over the recommended minimum for Syrian hamsters as given by the RSPCA which was the primary reason I chose it. The cage recommended by Pets at Home (Ferplast Laura) was much too small and Buttercup was bar-chewing like crazy after only 2 days.Pros-Spacious with a good tray depth for a decent amount of substrate and a selection of toys. It is a much larger cage than new hamster owners might be expecting so make sure you have enough flat space for it.-It seems sturdy, the base and cage sections clip on very firmly and the cage itself seems well constructed EXCEPT for one bar (see below)-The carry handles are very helpful, I'm not a big person so carrying this without the handles would be very difficult-Deep enough that the two different levels don't make the cage seem crowded and good space for any hanging toys-Large door is handy for getting Buttercup into her ball, she used to have to climb up to the door of her cage but now I can put the whole ball inside and she can climb in easily without me picking her up (we're not 100% cool with that yet!)-The tubes are a good addition for hamsters who enjoy them but it's also great that they can be removed without compromising the overall cage function, same with the penthouse-The selection of "extras" that come with the cage are good quality, the toilet is handy (if the little miss figures it out) and the water bottle works well-The wheel is good and it's an 8 inch instead of the 6.5 inch you normally see provided with cages. It's not silent but with a little lubrication it isn't very noisy and will do until I find a decent price on a quieter wheel.Cons-The cage was tricky enough to put together, I read some reviews here saying things like "How am I supposed to do this? I'm not an engineer!" And laughed a bit because I am actually a structural engineering graduate and so is my bf but we did take about 20 minutes to sort it all out (and cook dinner at the same time. Dinner suffered). The instructions on the Savic website aren't actually that helpful, we mostly used the picture. The most awkward thing was how hard it is to get the tubes together, the cage being so large makes it hard to manoeuvre.-The "ladders" are more like slides. Buttercup can't get a grip on them at all and doesn't use either of them. We put one of her old Ferplast tubes through the hole in the taller platform for her but she prefers to climb the bars up instead. I'm getting some bendy bridges to use so she doesn't have to.-I would have preferred the green shelf to be solid. The design looks interesting but there isn't that much useable space on it-The sunken food bowls are good for not tipping over but Buttercup preferred her old larger dish she could sit in to eat so I'm not using those either-The gap between the platforms is too large for her to stretch over but small enough that she thinks she can which has resulted in a few tumbles, it would be good to include some way of bridging that gap, I see online that a lot of people have made their own. I'm going to use a suspended ladder when it comes in the post.-The right angles in the tubing are a bit difficult for her to manage, she's not very large for a Syrian and used the curved Ferplast tubes no problem but she doesn't really like the 90degree-vertical-90degree set up. I might remove them as she doesn't seem to really enjoy them and I'm having visions of her getting stuck-One of the bars on the top penthouse door detached on one side with very little pressure. It's one of the top ones which is covered by the penthouse so it's not a huge issue but I did have to go around the rest of the cage checking there were no more bars that were going to come loose as she is a bar chewer sometimes.Overall I'm very pleased with the cage, the size more than makes up for the nitpicky things I've found and I got it for £59 which is more than reasonable and cheaper than a lot of places. It arrived very quickly and was well packaged.

What can I say? I was absolutely delighted with this product. I was slightly surprised when it arrived, as it was much larger than I had imagined. The cage is absolutely huge! It is over what the RSPCA guidelines are for the size of a Syrian hamster cage, which means your hamster will have plenty of room to run around. I must add that this cage should only be used for Syrian hamsters as most of the apparatus are much to large for any other kind of hamster to enjoy and they may be able to squeeze through the bars. The cage arrived in a very large box, and it came with all the little bits and pieces present and correct- nothing missing or broken. This cage must be self assembled,and anyone making bad reviews about this obviously didn't read the page properly as Amazon does tell you this. One thing I do have to say though, is that the cage does not come with any instructions on how to assemble it. However, after reading some reviews myself prior to purchasing this product I was made aware of this before hand but decided it was worth it. It did take me a while to assemble, but if looking at a picture of the cage it is fairly straightforward. Most things just click into place, and the tubes are easy enough to put together. No tools are required. Some reviews on this cage that I have seen mention that their hamster has escaped out of the tube. This can only be due to one thing- they haven't assembled it properly. The tubes are strong and are big enough to fit an adult sized Syrian hamster- with room to spare. They are a great addition to the cage. My hamster loves running through the tubes to get to the penthouse at the top, and I am extremely confident my hamster will not escape. At first my hamster felt a little nervous and out of place, as he is quite old and has spent his life in a much smaller cage. This was no problem though, as a couple of hours later he had got used to it and was thoroughly enjoying running around his newly found space. One word of advice, your hamster may benefit from placing a tunnel or some form of furniture near to the pink platform that it can use to help it to get on as my hamster struggles to climb the slide. However, this may just be due to his age and he can happily go down the slide without a problem. As long as you have a big enough space to keep the cage, I'm sure you'll agree with me that this is an excellent purchase. Well worth the money.Lucy

After being sold a cage for a syrian hamster from Pets at Home and being told that she would still be fine in it when she was fully grown, I wasn't overly happy that after 3 months I needed to buy a new one. After being advised wrongly already, I did my own research and found this cage and it is amazing!!! It is a fantastic size and matches well with the RSPCA size guidelines for a Syrian Hamster. Most importantly, she loves it. I've never seen her so animated and play for so long in one go. Its good quality and well made and would totally recommend it to anyone. My daughter loves it because its colourful and can see her hamster is so happy in it. I was lucky with the price I paid for this at £57 on Amazon,as it seems to retail at about £90 everywhere else, which is a bit of a drawback because it is expensive. I would say however that it is well worth the money. I do agree with comment that crops up in a lot of the reviews about assembling it though ... there's no instructions apart from the small picture attached to the front,and fitting the tubes together is quite tricky. You really need to take your time on these as the fixings are tiny and would be easy to break off. We looked at loads of cages online as we were worried about the tube sizes and had heard of hamsters getting stuck in them. Our hamster is quite a big girl but she fits through them fine and you can see she loves playing in them, so anyone with a larger hamster need not worry. She even managed to turn round in the narrowest part of the tube. I'm really pleased with this purchase and would give it 10 out of 10.

66 year old first time hammie parent, well I like the size of the cage for my dwarf hamster. Poor (hamburger) upgraded from a kaytee cage!!! Previous owner had him in a small Katee cage, should even be allowed to such small cages!!So it was not hard to put together, watch the video on utube, it helps. But the way she snaps everything together like its a piece of cake, um no! The tubes are the only thing that was a bit difficult, they come in halves so you have to snap them together,The elbow ones were the ones that were a pain. Use One short and one long for top and one short and one long together for under. So once I snapped them together I was good till I had to snap the bottom tube under the roof. I snapped the part under pent house but couldn't snap on the other side didn't want to wait till someone came to help,So I rigged it to where hammie can access penthouse from pink platform. Either way the optionIs there to install later, but not sure about how easy it will be taking apart tubes to clean and put back. So for now this is good. I struggled with the door, maybe cause I'm old lol, idk I'm getting the just of it now, but idk pull up and out. Not a big deal. The wheel I prefer one attached to the bars and this one is too small, 7" so I will get new one. Sand bath is cute. The igloos are cute. The ladders are too slippery for my baby, he just struggled, I didn't want to wait to see if he could get it sooner or later so I used tubes and rigged both platforms and he was easily able to access the platforms. I put the pink ladder back in but left tube and he will go down ladder but mainly uses the tubes. A bit shy at first of the platforms but he's coming around after a few days.He checked out the penthouse but he's not hanging out it yet, but I'm sure he will, he just now started hanging out in igloo on green platform. Water bottle works fine, I don't have any issues with leaking or not staying put. So its a big plastic box with attached cage. I like that the cage part is not super high. But could be a bit higher for wheel, but Overall really nice cage, just really need proper sized wheel. hamburger is getting used it and seems to like it better each day. I still don't plan to put tubbing as directed, I may try later after he's really used to his new home. And see how it goes cleaning them, but again happy with purchase.I Still like the cage but wish it was a tad larger in floor space and height even for my dwarf. Because the 8.7 wheel k got barely fits, I have the bedding all the way to top of plastic. A smaller Wheel would not he good for hamster. So I'm not using wheel or igloo or green ladder or water bottle because I broke clip. Just got him another bottle, I also have both platforms on same side. My hamster is happy though so I'm happy. Cage is Easy to clean, and tubes can be cleaned easily with a brush. personally would not use for large hamster though.

The set up of the cage is a little tough as the instructions are not the most clear, but still was able to put it together pretty well.The cage is GREAT for a Syrian Hamster. The cage I had before was way too small which he did not like. He now loves his new cage as he has tons of room to run around and maneuver through. I'm writing this review not long after I had bought it so I haven't had to clean it yet, but I can imagine cleaning it will be tough considering there are many parts that would need to be taken apart.All in all it's a great cage, perfect for a Syrian Hamster, I would recommend to anyone who has one.

Es excelente para mi hámster sirio, la mayoria de las jaulas quedaban muy pequeñas para él y en esta él se ve pequeño. Me costó un poco armarla porque el instructivo no es muy claro en algunas partes pero nada que un vídeo en internet no resuelva.

Me llegó el otro día y la verdad es que es perfecta para mi hámster sirio, gracias a su tamaño.Quizá como pega esté el tobogán verde de la plataforma rosa... ya que mi hámster no sabe bajar por ahí y acababa saltandoLlevaba tiempo que quería pedirla pero no había stock.También es difícil encontrar repuestos si alguno de los accesorios (tubos, penthouse,...) se rompen.

Für unsere Mäuse ist es das perfekte Zuhause! Für Hamster finde ich ihn ungeeignet da die Ebenen so ungesichert ein Risiko dar stellen. Hamster können Höhen nicht einschätzen. Für alle anderen Tiere wie Meerschweinchen, Ratten etc. ist er definitiv zu klein, es sei denn sie haben täglich für mehrere Stunden Auslaufmöglichkeiten. Für Mäuse hingegen ein wirklich großes und abwechslungsreiches Heim. Die Verarbeitung ist für den Preis super. Das Laufrad haben wir nicht im Einsatz. Das finden wir zu Instabil. Dafür haben wir Laufräder gekauft die man an den Stangen befestigen kann.
