Not as easy to install as a points conversion, but......
With this kit costing only slightly more than a points to electronic conversion on your existing distributor, this is a far better and more reliable way to go. Keep in mind that if you aren't all that handy with a wrench, it might be more than you want to tackle. You can go to the Proform website and download the instructions for the installation to decide for yourself. To have a garage mechanic do the swap for you, and do it right and tidy, count on paying for around two to three hours of shop time and thats if they even will allow you to bring in your own parts! Most don't nowadays. Otherwise this is the way to go on older vehicles that still have the original and sometimes difficult to adjust points type distributor under the hood, as the coversions don't address the fact that they will be installed into an old, and more than likely, original vintage distributor that very well could be on its last leg due to the bearings/bushings being worn out in the distributor shaft itself. This is a normal occurance and why distributors usually need replacing. The complete kit eliminates this as a potential problem, and that only adds to the priceless confidence you gain by eliminating the points alltogether. Oh yeah, it also looks just like the stock unit, and uses the same cap and rotor if I am not mistaken. You can also get creative in where you mount the control box so it doesn't look like you have changed a thing for those that consider authenticity a high priority and want to maintain a stock appearance under the hood.
