This sale is for one of the eight available extra heavy-duty, thick natural-color Brazilian Agate Geode Slice Coasters from the batch pictured. These agate slices are approx. 4.5x4" (+/- 1/2 inch). *Please note that you (probably) will not receive the slice from the main picture (unless you request it first). These thick Agate slices are ideal for coasters or could also be a nice display piece or for a multitude of jewelry or craft projects. If you would are planning on using it as a coaster, we recommend placing two parallel thin strips of mounting putty (or Silly Putty) on the bottom to prevent slippage. These occur in brownish tones interlayered with white and gray. Quartz forms within these nodules, creating a striking specimen when cut opposite the layered growth axis. ** Geodes are spherical masses of minerals that were deposited within their host rock formations. Geodes have a chalcedony shell containing various minerals, usually quartz. Geodes differ from vugs in that thethey were formed as a separate entity from the surrounding rock, whereas vugs are voids or cavities within a rock formation. Geodes also differ from "nodules" in that a nodule is a mass of mineral matter that has accreted around the nodule nucleous.
