I’ve tried many synthetic meets and could tell every time, but this I almost forgot it wasn’t beef fools my picky cat lol he loves taco meat he gets a small plate of it when I Make tacos I was blown away by the product and the fact my cat would not touch others but this he woofed down and was looking for more I love this product as I can’t get to a place that sells real beef, and this product fills the bill I’m sold on it. try it you will like it.

Incredible at every level
We have shifted over to just fish animal protein because I can catch it myself enough quantity it is always on hand except maybe mid-winter. Expanded the garden that has us vegetarian for a large part of the summer. And this fall we've even lowered our fish consumption.A friend brought satin a month ago and I like it. Had me thinking meat alternatives. Saw the good reviews for this product and price and thought winter chili. I'm blown away honestly. Salty, but good to season the whole dish if none is added. Really could not believe the amount for the price and how easy it is to prepare "ground beef" now. The chili was amazing. Last night we had our typical mutiveg plate with broccoli, beans, right rice (bean protein rice), collards and peppers&onions and I thought this would be good to mix in with the rice and beans. In just a few minutes I spiced up the dish with fake hamburger and it was amazing. What many do not realize is how the palette changes. You eat this a few times and it becomes hamburger meat in your mind as it's the new normal. Makes it real easy to go vegetarian or vegan. Or just a sensible cheap protein source that is simple to prepare. About 10 lb of product when hydrated for $1.50/lb. Gamechanger in our home.As a result I've ordered the chicken version for soups, etc. And the black bean burger mix.

Ok I KNOW what it looks like, but try it
when I tell you that this looked and smelled exactly like cheap dog food I mean I literally was concerned that somehow I had gotten a container of dog food. I figured I would add the water and you know let it soak it up and see how I felt from that point and it just looked more like dog food and so I tasted a teeny tiny piece of it and I almost threw it away because it was so salty and it didn’t really taste like meat at all I was just... honestly offended on behalf of my taste buds lol. But, I figured I would finish cooking with it and so I threw it in some spaghetti sauce and you know cooked it up and oh my gosh this is so delicious I don’t understand what happened because on its own it tastes straight up awful. But when I cooked with it sorcery happened I mean that’s the only thing I can figure because it is so delicious. I'm definitely going to keep trying recipes out. I’ve had the red mill tvp and I couldn't eat it. It just wasn't good. But I figured I'd give this a shot because it had such nice reviews and I'm so glad I did. I'm curious about the chicken one now Tbh. as a sidenote if the people that own this company see this review I would love a ground pork option as well. it looked like dog food it smelled like dog food it tasted like a bucket of weird salt but when you actually cook with it 10 out of 10 recommend. Oh and you’re gonna need a can opener to open this I did not know that I thought it was just gonna have like I don’t know plastic over it you know like when you open a sour cream or something, but nope it's a giant can. Just a heads up, not to age myself but I am a college student and up until verrry recently I did not own a can opener because I eat like a raccoon so if you're in the starving college student phase of your life, you'll need a can opener.Edited to add I made Salisbury steak and it was awesome! I didn't use the recipe on the can because ew, I actually used a mushroom gravy Salisbury steak recipe, but the point is it was delicious!

Great!
This fake meat honestly tastes like the real thing both in texture and flavor. I like to add it to my freeze dried meals when I am backpacking for a little extra protein and flavor. Mac and Cheese or whatever. I honestly don't think anyone would know the difference if you didn't tell them it wasn't real meat. Plus it is about 1/3 the cost and isn't bad for the environment as real meat so I think it is a win-win. I don't think I would be trying to pack it into hamburger patties or anything but as an addition to other meals this stuff is solid.
