Great book but buy with the practice book as well
Great book with clear explanations on how to do each section. The practice book is also very good and would recommend you buy both. The only reason why I haven't given this 5 stars is because the practice book doesn't have enough L3 questions and in reality L1 will not get you into your first choice school, well at least not in Barnet and Hertfordshire

Review not related to Common Entrance exam
I feel a bit bad that I'm not reviewing it for the purpose of the Common Entrance exam but hopefully my review will be still be relevant and useful to some. I teach in a special secondary for students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health issues. This 13+ study book is useful in our Maths lesson at providing focus for students who are struggling with the core curriculum at KS4 and is giving me an opportunity to provide initial assessments in a different way. I've found it useful in lessons for my brighter students as extension tasks as well. A good book as always from CGP.

Another great addition to the range of CGP books
Another great addition to the range of CGP books, this is a study book for the Common Entrance 13+ exams. It covers everything needed for the exam and gives plenty of information on what the exam will comprise and how to tackle it. All of the answers are included, as well as a glossary of the terms used and a handy multiplication table on the back page. Another bonus is the free online edition which goes along with this book, so for pupils who prefer to use online resources, it's a useful tool, with the online library looking very well done and easy to use. Highly recommended.

A good book with all 13+ maths topics, examples and practice questions
This book is well set out with practice questions at the bottom of each page. Answers are at the back of the book, but are not detachable. There is also a very useful four page glossary. At the end of each section there are summary questions. I really liked the fact that the questions were clearly labelled as level 1,2 or 3.You can also access the book on a computer or tablet by using the special code found in the book. There are lots of underlined words and colourful text, which some (including me) might think is a bit too much, but over all it's a good study guide.

Superb book with a very well written with crystal clear style
My daughter is doing very well in most subjects but her maths is falling behind, with intervention classes after school and with her GCSE's starting this term we decided to get a couple of maths guides to help her. Like and teenager she doesn't like being told what to do but I was so surprised when she took to this book like a duck to water. At one point I had to ask her to put it away before dinner she was so engrossed in it!The books are very concise, covering all the requirements. The print is very clear and there are tons and tons of examples for every single item you're required learn. While my daughter still needed some help with some items for the most part the examples are so clear and obvious. The best part is that the examples are in line with what will be required for the exams and the classic point dropping "show your working" sections, so while I know one method to do something I know the book will help my daughter to have the right methods for the exams and hopefully gather those all important points here and there and she'll breeze through and finally leave the after school maths intervention classes behind.
