Good read, plenty of facts

I really want to get on with this book as there is a lot of good information in it, but:- the author only uses the pronoun 'he' even when referring to women. Very confusing.- the over use of "my dear reader, my dear reader" really grated and distanced me from the text which was the complete opposite of the intention. Having it in the prologue alone would have been great.- have a dictionary handy. There are a lot of words not in common use.- felt like it had been translated from another language. Dont know as nothing about the author in the book.Really tried to persevere with book one but gave up and read Neil Gamon's book (which I really enjoyed).

Based on reviews, I had high expectations of this book. However, just into it and on page 19, it refers to Costei.. who is Costei? Is this a typo and it should be Sif? If anyone can help, that would be much appreciated. If this book is going to be full of typos then I shall have to return.

Wonderfully inventive names and fantastical descriptive narratives - and that's just the reviews! Loki himself would be proud.

The book overall is a great read, great for beginners however there is a section about elder futhark. Unfortunately this is not norse. Elder futhark is proto-norse. The norse people used Old Norse language alongside Younger Futhark, specifically Danish longbranch for the most part (Swedish short twig is popular on Swedish runestones)
