Finally! Authentic information!
"The Ninja Mind" is nothing short of outstanding-in the very real sense of that word. If you are interested in this apparently mystical Kuji power, and you seek to actually own that power- buy this book and hang on every word. It truly stands alone as one of the rare and few truly authentic instructional manuals (and that's what this book is- an instructional/ training manual in 1 of 9 Kuji capabilities) in the legendary Kuji powers of Japan's ninja "shadow warriors". For me, this wonder-ful book served as nothing short of an authentic initiation into the seemingly magical capabilities of the first aspect of the "Kuji Goshin Ho" 9 Seals Protection Method. This legendary power cultivation method was historically used by Japan's ninja warriors, Yamabushi mountain seekers of power and enlightenment, Shinto priests and Taoist ascetics in Japan and China for centuries. If you truly want to know how the ninja pulled off their amazing feats of physical strength, mental fortitude, or unyielding emotional endurance, this valuable book will not only explain the physical, mental and emotional mechanics of these capabilities, but it does what I have not seen any other book written on the subject ever do- it can start you on the path of cultivating this power in yourself, if the authentic Kuji are something you feel drawn to. It is said that "True brightness has its own allure." and now, after reading "The Ninja Mind" cover to cover 3 times over a period of a year, I am convinced this book is the definitive source not only for Kuji 1 "RIN-Indomitable Strength", but also gives plenty of clues for discovering some of the basic mechanics to study and practice the other Kuji powers as well. I have hunted for this kind of pure, honest, and real information widely, for years, and frankly there is very, very little written about the Kuji that is authentic. I already own all the other books, and can tell you, after years of research, that the authors of these books are at best ignorant or misguided, and at worst, charlatans and liars. Kevin Casey was kind and gracious enough to take us with him on his own personal journey into how he discovered and cultivated the power of Kuji 1 "RIN" through his teacher An-Shu Stephen K. Hayes. I am indebted to both. Mr. Casey was able to strategically add to his account actual detailed training exercises designed to start you on your way to "Strength" (with a capital "S"). Fantastic! Finally, an author who doesn't weigh you down with mystical, muddied religious overtones, or cryptically distract you with inaccuracies. Like Fudosan's flaming wisdom sword- Mr. Casey cuts straight through with an inspiring, accurate and generously instructive account of not just acquiring Kuji power, but living it. Misleading Title
This book was not at all what I expected. I wanted a book on the mental aspect of ninjutsu, a book that described the mental exercises of historical ninjutsu and how we can learn and apply these principles in modern training. What I got instead was the spiritual autobiography of Kevin Casey. The subtitle of the book is “Harnessing the Mental Strength and Physical Abilities of the Ninjutsu Masters.” The book, however, makes virtually no reference to any ninjutsu master other than Stephen Hayes. After reading the book, the reader is left with the strong impression that Stephen Hayes’ and Kevin Casey’s spirituality is much more closely connected with Tibetan Buddhism than with ancient ninjutsu. This book has little to do with historical ninjutsu or with ninjutsu in general as a martial art. It is, rather, the spiritual autobiography of Kevin Casey as told through various stories and events in his life. It is filled with adoration for Casey’s mentor, Stephen Hayes. Casey writes with an air of arrogance that is apparent in all his stories. Even the self-deprecating moments in the book have an air of false humility. In one of his stories, Casey goes into great detail to tell the story of how he was in charge of security during a speaking engagement for the 17th Karmapa of Tibetan Buddhism. The reader is left to wonder what this lengthy story has to do with the subject matter of the book. Granted, it is a very important event Casey’s life and he used the occasion of this book to tell it, but it has nothing to do with harnessing anything from ninjutsu masters. Within that story, he told of how his wife argued with some vegetarians over a tray of meat. It was certainly wise of Casey to brag on his wife in his book, but again, the story has nothing to do with the supposed subject matter. Casey’s stories take some rather bizarre turns at times. Casey focuses his mental energies on and draws strength from an Oriental god known as Fudo Myo’o who has blue skin and wields a flaming sword. Casey apparently believes in the literal existence of this deity who has manifested himself in physical form to both Casey and his wife. Fudo Myo’o appeared out of nowhere to change his wife’s flat tire. Fudo Myo’o also appeared in physical form to go on a late night wilderness run with Casey. I was struck with the impression that belief in the literal existence of Fudo Myo’o is as odd as believing in the literal existence of Thor. Even if one can look past the somewhat self-serving purpose of this book and its bizarre spirituality, the book still suffers from lack of editing and leaves many unanswered questions: If there is a Kuji One, is there also a Kuji Two, Three, Four, etc.? The chapter titled “The Nine Powers” does not list nine powers. Casey insists that the Kuji powers can be learned only from a qualified teacher; yet, he gives no guidance on how to find or screen these qualified teachers. Where are they found? What are their characteristics and qualifications? How can one discern a true teacher from a charlatan? He lists a mantra, the pronunciation of which is apparently important. He tells us how the vowels are pronounced but does not say which syllable is stressed. If the proper syllable isn’t stressed, the pronunciation of the word remains unknown. Who is Hanzo? To be fair, the book does contain a number of mental exercises that are probably helpful in meditation. I have no doubt that Casey is a fine man and meant well; I just think his book title is misleading. In conclusion, if you are looking for a book on the mental disciplines of ninjutsu, you will be sorely disappointed in this book. If you are interested in reading the spiritual autobiography of Kevin Casey, or if you are interested in learning more about the spirituality of Stephen Hayes, this book will suit you just fine.

A New Awareness
I'm grateful that this book was written. Firstly, because it made me aware that there are people out there with experiences of sensing this great power within them that is available to be accessed and integrated into the life as part of being a human being. As though it's something as a species that we have forgotten or lost.Secondly, though I've never met any others that I'm aware of who have called upon, felt, and experienced this sense of physical feeling and power spoke of by the author, I now know you are there, and it's exhilarating to think of the possibilities, and though never met I feel like I'm actually a part of some kind of brotherhood that I have missed in my life.Since I was a kid I've had a sense of such great overwhelming power physically coming over me at times, to where I would be frozen to the spot in wonder. There were occasions when I couldn't speak for days because of it. I learned to ground myself by holding on to a tree. It worked to siphon off the. Energy. Over the years I've learned how to channel it and the awareness it brings to help people heal. But now from reading the examples in this book I feel a new sense of possibilities of discovering even greater things to become for myself.Thank you for being there.
