these are not fully blackout and i will explain. these are for a curtain rod which sits a few inches out from the wall. the curtains, however, do not have sufficient overlap at both ends to meet the wall, when closed, or overlap where they meet. this allows light to get passed them and light up the room. they do a good job though and when i cut my old curtains ,and make a gusset for the ends, they will do the job nicely.
