This whale tail was so easy to install. It literally took 10 minutes. I installed it on a 21' ski boat with a 302 mercruiser and a bravo one outdrive. The boat has plenty of power but took longer than I would expect to get on plane. The new whale tail really made a difference. The boat gets on plane in about 10 seconds and when I trim the outdrive it feels more stable. I would recommend this if you don't have trim tabs and looking to improve the proforma of your boat.

I have a 4 Stroke Honda 150. I understand that all motors are going to be shaped a little differently so I was sort of expecting I might have to modify this... and I did. The fit you would attach this to doesn't stick back far enough to safely drill holes for the back screws. Fortunately, it appears there is some extra plastic between the metal name place and the motor. But removing that is rather difficult because the plastic is very hard and curved. It doesn't make it easy to put onto a table to router or saw. But that's the only difficult part of the procedure. The rest is straight forward.Unfortunately, I got this after the end of the 2022 season and before the 2023 season. It's probably ideal to have the boat out of the water on dry land when you're trying to attach the fin. But it would be nice to be able to report on the results and not just the installation.The fin feels like it's pretty sturdy... The plastic is actually quite thick and hard.I will have to post an update to tell how it performed and held up to the sun and elements.I marked it as "4 stars" for overall rating and "easy to install" because of the difficulty I had in trying to get it to fit my boat. I think that if there were additional holes, or if the installation included drilling the back holes in the fin, this might have been easier to install. In fact, it might make sense to ship this without any holes and let the installer choose where to put them.

Total waste of money. Does not perform as advertised. It degraded the performance of my boat.

This is what my boat needed when pulling the kids on the tub. Gets on top of the water in a hurry now I love it. The bait seems to ride a little smoother as well. Plus it looks cool. Bolts have stated tightened no issues after a few times on the water. I don’t foresee any issues long term either. Lake boat no salt water.
