Red Widow: Season 1

It was an interesting premise though in no way original. The plot twists were good but something went missing in the mix. Pacing and a weak script play a part.Goran Visnjic and Radha Mitchell's characters had a very promising arc as the leads. Their unexpected involvement was compelling and soon became the only reason to watch it as they know exactly how to carry a scene and made the most of a disappointing script.It was an utter shame to not only let that connection go to waste in the weakest pacing of a story I had seen in a while, but also not allow the producers work out the issues in what would've been a second season I would've looked forward to viewing regardless of the first.The supporting cast are compelling actors in their own right and the characterizations were full of commitment, however their depictions seemed to be lost and lacking which only emphasized the weakness of the story's pace. It was as if a single thread was missing and the overall impact frayed as a result.Several shades away from being a powerful show to invest in.It would've been a disaster without Visnjic and Mitchell.I toast to them. A shame not to see the next chapter.

There are some really well written reviews, so I will to try to top them or be professional. This is really well done, and I new nothing about it other than reading the blurb and who the cast was. By the end of the first episode I was hooked. It is not a typical american show, and some the negative reviews made me think the main character was not one dimensional enough for them. A key difference from shows like breaking bad and weeds is that this is looking through the opposite end of the telescope: someone raised in the life that felt they were out, or out enough to feel like a regular person. I was actually surprised when the credits rolled and I saw ABC's logo. I thought it was european or something I missed on one of the premium networks. gret story, and would be a great candidate for an Amazon Original Series!

It was a great idea that was ultimately badly executed. The writing was amateurish. Lots of great scenes, but little actual character and plot development. Most of the characters were unlikeable. Their actions and motivations made little sense given their supposed backgrounds. The direction, at times, had the characters practically chewing the scenery.The series started out very slowly. So much so, that I can see why the audience dropped. People you don't like doing things you don't care about. But, in terms of action that you can sink your teeth into, it picked up around the middle of its run and ended with a bang. If only it had started out with one. Well, a figurative one anyway.The one bright spot, and the reason I give it 3 stars was Goran Visnjic as Nicholae Schiller. He (and his bodyguards) was the one character I wanted to know more about. Hoping to learn more about him was the sole reason I looked forward to each week and am disappointed that the show was canceled.

Great show! Can't say enough good things about it. Never having watched it before, I caught the finale on TV and had to go back to watch the series in its entirety, even after I knew how it ended. It's a nice balance of suspense, romance, drama, and action without being predictable. The script is well written and doesn't insult the intelligence. The story revolves around a woman who is drawn into the criminal world through the actions of her family as she struggles to find a way to cut her ties to it while keeping her family safe. I enjoyed all the subplots and the characters were well developed. If you like Revenge, you will like this show, which in my opinion completely surpasses that soap opera melodrama. Unfortunately, I understand ABC canceled the series, but even so, the show wraps up nicely by the 8th episode.

I am surprised that ABC cancelled this program after one season. It was much better than some of the suspense dramas that are still on air. The plot was interesting, cast was good Radha Mitchell did an excellent job of taking along as she dealt with her families problems with the Eastern Euro mob presence in the US. I was glad to see Goran Visnjic ( from ER) once again in his role as arch enemy Schiller. It could have had a longer run....too bad one of the cable companies didnt pick it up after it was cancelled by ABC.

Everyone has idiot tendencies...no one is innocent...mediocre series...probably why they didn't producebeyond 1 season...I always blame it on the director/producer...grin

It started off very slow, building the characters and the plot. After the 1st episode you get to see how tragedy and it's aftermath can change not just one person but everyone it touches. All the while your left with the mystery of who killed her husband and how is she to protect herself and her children from the same fate. If you love True blood don't bother watching this. Their is no full frontal nudity and over the top drama queens. It's well acted with a good plot arc. It covers so much in just the 8 episodes. It's a drama, a murder mystery, and the start of a romance. The only down side is it leaves you wanting more, like a second season and possibly a third, because it only gets better.

red widow was too good for network tv should have been a hbo or showtime series then i could have watched it when i wanted on demand pay attention netflix im just hoping they have another season and can keep the storyline as interesting as this was also premium channels could have made this series grittier that was surely cleaned up for network tv
