I bought this book to help me to prepare for my Paediatric specialty training interview and it was invaluable. It is packed full of practice questions with structured, sample answers. It covers all of the areas that interviewers will be looking to assess and allows the reader to apply the learning to their own CV and prepare answers in advance of the interview. It can be used as a study tool alone, or can be used with a friend to create a mock interview. The guidance notes on how to structure answers are particularly useful and help to provide focussed responses that showcase your experience and skills well. Essential reading for interviews across all specialties, both at entry level and as a refresher for senior posts.

Having read this updated version of an essential interview resource, and just completed a round of CT interviews, this edition provides the most up to date advice on current NHS and training issues, as well as a comprehensive review of the structures behind concise answers.It is useful at core training level, however with the brevity of interviews I feel this book will be a good investment for those looking to higher training.This is essential for all trainees and should be your number one interview resource.

It’s a very good book, but not so relevant anymore as many changes since this book has released in 2013. Better buy the fourth edition for all the updates.

I bought this before my consultant interview and found very useful.Even though this book is written mostly for CT and ST interviews, the answers can be tailored for any interview.It has questions and also comes with sample answers.It covers clinical topics, management topics which are very common interview topics.I am pleased that I bought the book as it helped me to change my answers in the interview. Else the answers would have been very dull.

I bought this to help my gf practice for her interview. We used this book a lot and she smashed the interview. This book is well laid out and made practicing for the interview a breeze. I'd reccomend anyone to get the 2nd edition over the first due to the updates which we compared to a friends copy of the 1st edition.

Really useful book. Helped with focused interview preparation with lots of different questions and example answers. Does not cover clinical scenarios which are specialty-specific, but theses tend to be straightforward anyway. Provided a useful structure for answering different types of questions and really helped me to feel less nervous before my interviews. Would recommend for people who don't have much interview experience and have a tendency to get flustered when nervous ;-).

This is an important book for all doctors applying for higher specialty training. It is concise, well-written, and informative. It helps translate into words the skills and experiences which are necessary to convey at interview. The examples are very helpful, and the tips on answering questions follow easy structures which are transferable to most situations.Overall, a useful addition to all those applying to specialty training.
