One of the latest additions to the Impressions Playing Card range from MPC. The Cardinal Edition follows on from the hugely successful Stealth Edition. Taking on board feedback from customers after the first few releases, MPC have used bold colours for the raised gloss artwork. MPC continue to work on the card stock and finish and in their own words the Cardinal Edition can be "handled like a 'normal deck of cards". Produced using state of the art printing and machinery with premium 310gsm German linen-finish air card stock. The UV is then applied "which we then applied with pinpoint accuracy, to certain areas of the playing cards to produce a sleek raised gloss embossed effect called virko." The gloss applied is rated at 99 Gloss Units which is the highest there is for printed materials, meaning that the artwork looks very impressive indeed. With artwork unique to the MPC brand, their signature back consists of a symmetrical illustration of a fully grown tree as the focal point. The inspiration for this being that playing cards are made from paper and originate from trees. Adding the special raised embossed gloss effect to the cards increases the height of the deck slightly and in theory disrupt the smoothness of the cards which is needed for cardistry such as shuffling and fanning, however through "continuous improvements, changes and new developments", MPC have been able to achieve a high degree of playability that has to be handled to be admired.
