Fantastic fountain pen.
Have used Lamy fountain pens for a lot of years all fitted with Italic nib. Fabulous

Writes perfectly.
Love it, light in the hand, good ink flow. Value for money and styllish.

Cheaply Made
Made from the cheapest plastic, certainly not worth the high price paid. Even the, what appears to be metal, lid is cheap plastic. It writes OK, not necessarily smooth like some have said. Certainly, my old Parker was much better. As a Calligraphy pen, the 1.5 nib writes much the same as my old medium nib Parker too, not much distinction between the different strokes, nothing like that illustrated in the sales details (where it shows a picture of the three different nibs) and was the reason I chose 1.5 over 1.9, as the 1.9 looked too wide, but to get the distinction I was hoping for, you would need a wider 1.9 nib in this brand. For the price paid, I would not recommend this product (maybe worth half the price, at most?).

Writes beautifully!
Lamy italic knib pens write so well. Great definition from the knib. Sit very well in the hand. I personally don’t believe you need to buy anything more expensive. I’ve tried the cheaper ones too… just not as good!

Good pen
It looks just like the picture and my grandson seems to be thrilled with it.

Just buy a safari with a calligraphy nib
Looks very arty. But all it is, is a long quill-looking pen. It takes the same nibs as the safari and AL. You can buy a safari and order it with a 1.1, 1.5 or 1.7 nib from reputable suppliers elsewhere. Save your money.

I prefer stub nibs and went to the trouble of changing my Al-Star to one. It was fabulous to pick another stub-nibbed Lamy up for a great price, and a nib even wider than what I had already. Plus it's smooth right out of the box. Useful for everyday writing if you have a liking for Italic-style script, but it's not a pen you can carry around, even though it has a pocket clip. It's simply too long. Despite the length it's well-balanced. The pen also can't be posted, unlike other Lamy models. It's an attractive pen with a small red tip and a red finial, as well as a red-coloured clip. If you like the Lamy triangular grip, it's good for hours of writing fun. The Lamy black cartridge the pen came with contains decent ink too. I'm not a fan of Lamy blue or red but the black is fine.
