60's Folk at it's Best
Listening to this album brought back lots of memories of scout camps for me because we didn't sing ging gang goolie but many of the current folk songs featured on this album inc. It's all over now baby blue, There but for fortune & We shall overcome. Joan closely linked with Bob Dylan was one of the leading artists in the early 60's folk era superb versions of I pity the poor immigrant and Help me make it through the night and Brand New Tennessee Waltz and her classic track The Night they Drove Old Dixie Down. Great Folk Album

BEAUTIFUL VOICE
I bought this as it had my favourite tracks from the 60's, namely Farewell Angelina and There But For Fortune but this cd is worth the price alone just to hear Joan sing We Shall Overcome - it is quite simply stunning. Joan's beautiful clear voice rings out like a bell.I have seen Joan twice in concert and she is wonderful and has a good sense of humour.

Great singer and the early years
A great compilation of Joan Baez in the early years, some self-penned songs and others from the likes of Dylan. A good introduction to this skilful talented musician/singer/songwriter.

Great background music to hum to
Although most of these songs are cover versions of great songs by the cream of the 1960s and 1970s (Dylan, the Beatles, Paul Simon and Kris Kristofferson) Joan Baez brings a freshness and unique folk twang to these songs. "The Night they Drove Old Dixie Down" is a rousing tune whereas "It's all over now, Baby Blue" and "Farewell, Angelina" are hauntingly beautiful. Baez's own song, "Blessed are" builds to a crescendo and is full of passion whilst "We shall overcome" reminds us of how influential she was in the protest movement. This album is a collection of Baez's best and meanders from folk to country and back again. A wonderful album to put on in the background when working or relaxing.

Fantastic Joan Baez CD!
How lovely to hear Joan Baez's original recordings in perfect sound. In the 1960s I used to have a single with "It's All Over Now, Baby Blue" and " Farewell Angelina." I loved them then as I do now and fantastic to hear them 50 years later along with other well known songs of hers.

No surprises
I have 2 other Joan Baez CD’s - both with live not original versions of The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down. Finally the original on this CD. She is very good live but that is no where in the description when you but it.

Avec « Dixie » en version studio
Super. Il y a « The Night they burnt old Dixie down » en version classique qui est difficile à trouver.

Great compilation
She was a major part of folj history and really helped to make Dylan what he became. The beauty and purity if her voice are highlighted here and it is exactly why I have always looked at her as the queen of folk. Such a strong performer with the heart to help her friends whenever she got the call.
