Awesome.
This small book is a synthesis of two Fr. Garrigou-Lagrange's other (much larger) books "Christian Perfection and Contemplation" and "The Love of God and the Cross of Christ." In the Three Conversions, Fr. Garrigou-Lagrange discusses the interior life, specifically the transition from way to another way i.e. the CONVERSIONS. Drawing on the writings of the great St John of the Cross, we are told about the signs and changes that must take place in order to continue on our spiritual journey, which is FOR EVERYONE, not just priests and religious. I had read Christian Perfection and Contemplation before this, so I found the material to be very accessible, and it seemed to me that for someone wanting an introduction or at least a place to start with Fr. Garrigou-Lagrange's writings on the interior life, that this would be the place to do it. However, I do have a friend who started with this book and is having a hard time with it. CPAC is over 400 pages, while this book is only 110, so I would still recommend starting here if you are interested in learning more about the interior life. Of course, next comes Fr. Garrigou-Lagrange's massive two volume work "The Three Ages of the Interior Life."

Insight to what God's love really is
This book synopsizes the longer works by Lagrange, and I've already had several epiphanies, especially on the whole concept of God's love, and why we are admonished so strongly to love ALL.As a brief quote: "We wholly love God when we desire to make him loved by all...If we exclude even one soul from Him..and from our own love, then we lose God Himself."You'll have to read the book and the above quote in context to really get the depth of its meaning, but hopefully it's succinct enough to give you a taste of the intention.Highly recommend this book for anyone who wishes to attain true knowledge of God's love and wisdom (that means, EVERYONE :) This is a fine indtroduction, until I can afford the lengthier volumes from Lagrange (Particularly the "Three Ages of the Interior Life," which you can find online to read as well.)

Dominican + Carmelite Theology = A Theological Masterpiece of the 1900s
This is one of the Top 5 theological works of the 1900s. Father Garrigou-Lagrange was the doctoral director for the Polish priest Karol Wojtyła - who became Pope Saint John Paul II.This book synthesizes the Carmelite mystical "threefold way" with the doctrinal tradition of Saint Thomas Aquinas. A masterpiece. Moreover, this book is basically an abridged form of Garrigou-Lagrange's 1,400 page magnum opus: The Three Ages of the Interior Life.Read this shorter "Three Conversions" first and if you want to go deeper, graduate to his longer "Three Ages."

Your spiritual walk
this little (tiny) volume is packed with wisdomfor your journey. Mine is completely underlined & with many notes. The only thing you need to watch out for is thetranslation, which is older. Some word meaningsare also different these days. It took me awhile to realize that the word "experimental"in fact is meant to mean "experiential". There are a few more like this as well. Some day Father will be declared a Doctor of the Church,I'm sure of it.

Quick Introduction to the Spiritual Life
This book is a quick read and an excellent introduction to spiritual growth. Fr. Garrigou-Lagrange shows how sacred scripture, tradition, St. Catherine of Siena, St. John of the Cross and St. Thomas Aquinas speak in unison about the importance of prayer. As a convert, I found this book particularly helpful because 'prayer' has an entirely different meaning within the various protestant groups. After reading this one, you will surely want to read "Christian Perfection and Contemplation."

I think you will be glad you bought this
Outstanding book on the spiritual life. This is a must have in your Catholic Library. It is small and much more accessible than his other books.( They are outstanding, too. Don't mean to discourage anyone) HIs other books can be intimidating, not this. I think you will be glad you bought this.

Fast shipping, item arrived as described, great seller ++
This review is not about the content of the book, The Three Conversions in the Spiritual Life, but of the buying experience. This book by Fr Reginald Garrigou-Lagrange I found very hard to come by and in many places, used and quite expensive. The seller, Bow Island Books, listed the item at a very reasonable price. The item itself came quickly and the condition of the book came as new. I highly recommended this seller.

Excellent little book
Garrigou-Lagrange is probably the greatest theologian of the Twentieth Century. This succinct and insightful little book deserves to be more widely read.

Excellent
Superb account of the stages of spiritual growth that the soul undergoes as it advances in holiness. Consolidates the teaching of St Thomas Aquinas, St John of the Cross and St Catherine of Sienna on the matter. Short book in quantity, lofty in content. Great book.
