Mercedes-Benz W210 owners beware
The supplied cable is not the same as the one pictured. There is no knurled locking nut on the Mercedes-Benz 38-pin connector. The supplied cable only has a push fit connector. This cable was purchased to connect the 38-pin diagnostic socket on a Mercedes-Benz E-Class estate (Model W210) to an Autop D900 code reader. Unfortunately, there are insufficient wires within the cable to establish an electrical connection between the ECU in the car and the D900 code reader. As supplied the cable has the following electrical connections: MB Pin 1 to EOBD Pins 4 & 5 (Ground); MB Pin 3 to EOBD Pin 16 (+12 volts): MB Pin 4 to EOBD Pin 7 (K line). When connected between the car and D900 code reader and a New Scan is selected the following message gets displayed on the D900 code reader "Unable to establish a link with the vehicle". It is necessary to also connect MB Pin 15 to EOBD Pin 15 (L line) in order to get a satisfactory electrical connection between the ECU in the car and the D900 code reader. The Mercedes-Benz 38-pin plug can be rewired with 4-core cable but the EOBD socket is sealed and has to be replaced with a new socket. It would be easier to find an adaptor with the four wires already connected.
