Glad I Came Across This.
So, throughout the years I heard about this Daniel Johnston who suppossedly was a genius songwriter but, as things go, I never came across his music until very recently.Granted, his stuff is usually so shoddily recorded and performed that to most people it's just unlistenable and close to noise, but if you pay attention you can hear the real song underneath, too shy to step into the spotlight.Well, this record manages to pull out the greatness of Johnston's stuff and put in the front seat. Glad I came across it and bought it.Sad that Daniel Johnston himself never really got to record a real professional album, but hey, maybe with all the advances in home recording technology he'll surprise us one of these years.Do yourself a favor and get this. And if you like it, experience real undiluted Daniel Johnston, you just might like it and get your musical paradigm shifted for you.

Kathy McCarty brings Daniel Johnston's music alive
I recently watched the "Devil and Daniel Johnston" documentary and wanted to hear some of his music. When I purchased his early CD's I was a bit disappointed to hear how rough his versions were on the CDs. Kathy McCarty does a very good job of taking Daniel's music and bringing it to life. I know it could be argued that altering an artist' music is a terrible, terrible thing. You can believe whatever you want. Her performances on this CD bring out the best qualities of Daniel's music and lyrics. Give this CD a try and you'll appreciate Daniel Johnston's music even more.

A sincere but bizarre cd
Daniel Johnston is a very overrated songwriter and performer. I think he is famous b/c it is in vogue to like him rather than Johnston actually having talent and being listenable. He composes very childish lyrics and songs and plays them in a very pre-historic manner on the piano or guitar. There is some ability but the weirdness and eccentricity outshine the talent.K. McCarty was a legitimate performer and arranger that brought to life these IDEAS for songs. These Daniel Johnston written songs are head and tails above Johnston's performed songs. The cd starts out with "Walking the Cow" with its Bach v. Ramones motif."Rocket Ship" is the hardest rocker and is truly a weird tune."Living Life" in a way is quite beautiful and ordinary."Hey Joe" sounds like a continuation of "Hey Joe" (Hendrix) and "Hey Jude". The piano melody and outro riff is quite pretty."Oh No" has a powerful chorus. "Museum of Love" is great b/c the song unexpectantly changes tempo."Grievances" is the most lyrically complex song and it is very interesting how rambling the words are.I have owned this since 1994 and have always loved this strange cd. I tried to listen to pure Johnston, even the Butthole Surfers "Fun" and found it too much, too much weirdness and not enough mainstream talent.Since seeing the film "Devil in Daniel Johnston" I have come to understand how K. McCarty was a true friend and why she did this cd and it makes me enjoy the cd even more. This cd combines the whimsical nature of Daniel Johnston (with all of his distrubed lyrics and melodies) with the actual performer K. McCarty who knows what to do with these ideas. This is a truly adventerous piece of work for anyone not familiar with the artist

買ってよかったCD
個人的に女性ボーカルで好きなものって少ないですがこれは大当たりです。飾りけのない歌声だけど素直で聞きやすいです。ダニエルジョンストンとは、またちょっと雰囲気が違うと個人的には思います。
