Dangerous Calling: Confronting the Unique Challenges of Pastoral Ministry (Paperback Edition)

In ministry we go through gospel amnesia. Forgetting to preach the gospel to ourselves, this results in feeling of arrival. The author points out the need of the gospel in our lives just as much as anyone else because we are in mists of our sanctification. The antidote is to be candid to your leadership, have a mentor and to sit under your own preaching.Apart from removing all the glittering lights of public ministry the author paints the true struggle in ministry, exposing heart idols and ministry struggles. The problems are so common makes your wonder if it was custom written. Definately a recommend read for any one in ministry.

If you have not read the Holy Christian Bible, I would recommend that as a pre-requisite to this book: Dangerous Calling. David Tripp identifies critical areas one should look at their inner-self and evaluate whether they are doing the God of Jesus Christ's will, or their own will. That makes this book a crucial, life changing quick read necessary for any human-beings life. Love the book.

Such a good author and this is one of my favourites. He sensitively but purposefully digs into tough issues for ministers/pastors/vicars and shows you the issues we have with sin (particularly those exaggerated and intensified by working in ministry). The chapters are a good length for working through as a group/one to one study guide and, as a small thing, it's nice quality paper that you can highlight without the ink soaking through.
