Awesome, works wonders with synology surveillance station, smooth, stays connected, behaves, looks nice. buy one!
At last! I've had a number of IP cameras over the years and took a punt thinking 'wow that's cheap' and I am very impressed. It is worth more than it costs IYAM. Great packaging and a nice looking product. Smaller than you think. The camera stands about 12cm tall and 7cm wide. On the back there is a blanking plate where the Ethernet 'could / should / might?' be. it is moulded as part of the case, though you can see a line around it, I tried to pop it out but no luck, whether there is an ethernet behind it I can be sure. Instructions suggest there is ethernet but I think the removed it on the lite and it is wifi only... not sure?Set up was genuinely simple, I used my Android phone, scanned and got it connected. I found that the viewer via browser is pretty rubbish, the plug-in took a million attempts to run on Windows 10 and looks a bit dodgy but eventually worked, allowing me to get into the settings. I would mark it down for this but am so impressed I'll pretend I started with 6 stars, and also of course the web apps for the other cameras also suck just as much too.Connecting to my Synology Surveillance Station was a breeze once I realised I had to tick the enable Onvif button in the camera settings, then bish-bash-bosh it is running fine. I have email alert set up on my NAS to send alerts / snapshots. I know you can apparently do from the camera but it makes sense for me to use NAS instead, and its much easier - I therefore didnt try this on the camera but assume it works, looks the same as EasyN where you have to enter all the email settings and it 'should' work. Having then configured backup of the recording folder to google drive I then get real time upload of the video to my CCTV folder in google drive to view recorded activity remotely (yes I could sign into the NAS but that may have just been stolen by the bad guys). The Foscam app works fine and remote viewing is smooth. It's odd though since I disabled DDNS, I'm not sure where else I have to click to stop it being accessible from the Foscam app?? not really an issue but interesting it is still visible. It is very sensitive, my cat walking across the patio triggers it through a window in shot. I like that, it is what I need. It isnt over sensitive where it gets triggered by shadows.Tips:1. You cannot reserve IP address for this from your router, therefore within the camera settings assign an IP address outside of your routers DHCP range and you'll then have static with no future conflicts.2. Change your password for remote viewing. It is imperative for your privacy and security.3. If you are using with your Synology you must enable Onvif on the camera, you can then add the camera. If you dont do this it will keep disconnecting. simple fix but took forever to work out - tell all your friends :)Yep. very good indeed. I would definitely buy another, though I think I'll go with the C1 which has night vision for my second one. Added security at night time.

Leaks data to the internet and you cant stop it. Do not by this brand.
As a network engineer, I am fairly used to setting up all types of network equipment. I am also interested in network security and allowing the customer to decide on what they would like to be leaked outside of there network. So, the C1.Under no circumstances should you bur this camera if you are1: Interested in your home network/data/location staying privateThe device needs a FOSCAM cloud account to setup in the first instance. Thereafter it should not need to communicate with any external servers but it does. Having a fairly advanced Cisco firewall protecting my network, the C1 was trying to send all kinds of data to a number of servers all over the world. These packets included, Location Data, Device information on my local network and motion events to a cloud account that is no longer needed.2: If you are interested in network security and attempt to block the above leaking traffic. If you attempt to block the leaky traffic, the device eventually stops working locally as it can no longer communicate with the servers mentioned above.Thereafter the device is rendered useless until you carry out a full reset, reset all the firewall rules to allow the device to communicate with whatever it wants to.There have been a number of FOSCAM P2P articles in the press recently about data leak and what it means to you. My experience is evidence enough that the reports were very accurate .My advise to anyone wanting to purchase a Baby or Security Camera is as follows1: Don't by a cloud enabled camera, they leak data everywhere and mainly to Chinese servers.2: If you can, spend a bit more money on something that will last a while and is good quality2: Always always always, thing about what these devices are sending back out to the internet. Do your own research and out your network and data security first.I no longer have my C1 or any other FOSCAM products on my network.

Dubious origin
Item has arrived in less than 24 hours. But, box is covered in brown dust, torn open and crudely sellotaped up. Also, delivered with European plug. It was not said to be secondhand.I reserve my right to return it .

Nice hardware, awful software.
Packaging and initial appearance was impressive for a cheap little device (£30), near Apple quality and feel. The setup was very tricky however, with the Android seemingly incompatible with every phone, and the iOS version only available on iOS 7 or later. Eventually realised that the little button on the back labelled "SoftAP" was necessary for it's internal WiFi network to broadcast. I was then able to connect to the same network from a Mac and access the device's own web service at [...].The device requires a plugin only available on Windows, but after installation access via the default username and password (see base of device). Change the WiFi settings and passwords as necessary (you might want to disable P2P, UPNP etc unless you need access from work etc), then alter the "Sub" video settings from "HD Mode" to "Equilibrium" (this fixes RTSP streaming), then save settings. To access the stream via VLC it's just File -> Open Network and enter rtsp://ip_of_camera_on_wifi:554/videoMain, then enter the new admin username and password. The camera_ip can be set in the settings, or using DHCP (your WiFi router will set the IP).There are free Chrome extensions and mobile apps that do display the stream and compatible with most devices.Video and audio do work excellent during the day. The wide viewing angle is great, and there's the option to record by time, and when alerted by movement.Access to files stored on an SD card can be accessed from any browser via ftp://camera_ip:50021/IPCamera/ and using the "admin" account and password. No other accounts seem to work.
