Update June 9, 2025. - These ion generators are made from junk components. As noted in my original review below, the first pair of devices arrived with one already failing. The battery/charging system in that device would not accept a full charge. Within 24 hours it would accept no charge at all and would not power on. The second of these devices worked for a couple of days before exhibiting the identical failure. I had by that time already ordered a replacement for the first failed device. That first replacement failed in the same way within less than 24 hours of receipt. The second replacement device arrived the day after that. Ready for a real shocker? The second replacement device arrived and...wait for it. It failed from exactly the same issue in less than 48 hours. That's 4 out of 4 failed, all from the exact issue. Too bad, since the devices really looked sharp. While they were functioning I tested them with a commercial grade ion detector and they did in fact produce high levels of negative ions. If they had functioned for their expected lifespans I'd have kept all 4 of them. They worked that well. But alas, the vendor is using the cheapest of cheap components which they no doubt are well aware will give up the ghost after even a little use. Shame on them. Getting and using inexpensive components is the name of the game in electronics, but come on, at least use components with some level of quality and not ones that are complete junk. I always put new electronics through a burn-in period just to make sure I didn't end up with a lemon. Most people don't do this, however, so while I was able to determine all 4 units were failures and was within the return period for all of them, most folks would have used the devices casually, and after a month or two (if that long) they would have given up the ghost, but not until after returns were longer possible. Is that the seller's entire business plan? One wonders... I would knock off even the single star rating for these if that was allowed. All I can say is, if you're looking for an ion generator, stay away from these or you WILL be returning them when they fail...if you're lucky enough to be within the return window (probably not, if you're like most electronics consumers.) Give these a hard pass or you'll wish you had. Original Review I purchased 2 of the devices (yes, I knew the “2 for the price of 1” was just a marketing gimmick, but since I’d intended on getting a couple of devices anyway, I wasn’t particularly bothered by the sales gimmick. Both devices failed from the exact same problem. The first was dysfunctional right out of the box. It would not charge beyond the 75% level. Since it was always my intent to run them plugged in, I wasn’t particularly bothered by this. However, it failed fully within a couple of days. And would neither accept a charge nor would it run while plugged in. The second device also failed just a few days later. Again, from from the exact same electronic issue. The first device was reported as having failed, and its replacement was received just yesterday. It, too, failed from the exact same issue and it took less than 36 hours of use before it failed. The replacement for the second original device was received today. I was just plugged in and there is little doubt that it, too, will fail within the next day or two, but I'll give it the benefit of the doubt and test it to see. If you think I just happened to get 4 our of 4 that all just happened to have the identical random problem, then by all means order this product. I would say you’ll get what you pay for, but no, you won't even get that. Just $150 gone for a couple of ionizers that will croak before the transaction has even cleared your bank account! It’s a shame, too, because during the couple of hours these devices were functional, they did exactly what they purported to do. I have test meters that accurately measure negative ion production, and these devices really did produce significant measurable levels of negative ions But if you only get a couple of days of life from each device, it is hardly worth the price. Give this one a pass, or you'll kick yourself for ignoring this review.

I’m pretty skeptical by nature so this HealthyLine GeneratIon-50 negative ion generator seems to be nothing more than a hi-tech nightlight in my humble opinion. Everything about its design and accessories are top notch. When turning it on the air is immediately saturated with the slight smell of what I can only describe as burnt chlorine. Which I’m not understanding for negative ions are supposed to be odorless, tasteless, and invisible. Like the feeling you get being at the mountains, waterfall, or beach. Can say there isn’t any significant changes I’ve noticed in my state of mind or health in general since using this GeneratIon-50 air ionizer. For this price was really expecting a lot more. Has been only three weeks, so I’m willing to give it more time to sway me.

I like that there is no air filter to change and/or clean! I love that this small negative ion will help purify the room for better breathing. This device is small and easy to move room to room. Great product that will get lots of use!

To start, this thing is small—like, tiny. It's barely bigger than the palm of my hand (and I have small hands). I'm pretty sensitive to both negative ions and ozone (apparently only some people can detect the former), so as one who knows, this does seem to create negative ions with no detectable ozone. I'd be interested to know how it's doing it, especially without heat, because it doesn't seem to need or produce heat like, say, a salt lamp. It had a kind of plastic-y smell at first, and the outer materials (especially the top) feel and look somewhat cheap, so I am thinking the price is mostly based on what's inside. It charges fast and does seem to work for the advertised amount of time on one charge (I've only had to charge it a few times over the last few weeks), but the charger wall-adapter seems to be rather cheap—it gets pretty hot. The item came in somewhat upscale packaging, so I'm wondering a bit about the company's value-distribution priorities among the components. Anyway, this is definitely a personal ionizer. Don't expect it to freshen the air of a whole room. It comes with a little nozzle attachment to help you breath it in more efficiently, which I think is probably the only way most people would get a really noticeable effect. The ion output of this unit is quite low, particularly if you're wanting to impact the air of a room vs. just the general vicinity of one person. I occasionally hold it up to my nose and breathe it in directly, but I've mostly just tried to keep it around when I'm working on my laptop or sitting reading at my workspace—I've also put it over my headboard at night, and I think I've noticed the most results from that (slightly better sleep quality and breathing/air quality, since I'm under the unit instead of above). There doesn't seem to be a fan or any built-in way to circulate the ions upward if you don't have it very close (i.e. breathing straight from the outputter), and it seems like the ions don't go very high above the machine before they start to fall. So in most cases, when you'll be having the unit a foot or so below the level of your nose/mouth, I'm not sure how much you'll actually be breathing in. As a completely random side-note: I had a little fun showing it to my cat, who was at first freaked out by the ion outputter and wanted to slap it out of my hand (I didn't let him, and he's over it now). As far as value, I think this is quite expensive for the limited use/limited effect most people will see with it, but for the right person it could make a difference. It's (negative ions in general, not this unit) been studied in use to help people with depression, and I can see that as a reason for getting it (you'd really want to be diligent about getting it in your face, though).

We got this without realizing how small it is. Note that this is a "personal" air ionizer - meaning you use it in a very small space for one individual. For the cost, I don't recommend this - find a larger ionizer for an entire room or more.
