For reference, I am a 50 year old, 5'1 woman with petite arms/legs that has had Fibromyalgia, arthritis and degenerative disc disease in my spine for many years. I'm always on the lookout for items to bring relief. Recently tried a few massage products (one was from this same company) but returned them, but this massager will be the one to stay. I purchased this on Cyber Monday for $119 and give it 5 stars for that price. I've had a Homedics brand one for a few years but it is only for the back. I especially bought this for the included neck feature because I was told by my Rheumatologist that I now have the neck of a 65 year old and the muscles have gotten very painful the last year.Fibromyalgia can make it tricky to use these types of massagers, depending on where you have tender spots and how sensitive they are. So, with that in mind, I personally found the adjustments helpful and I love that there is a "rolling" option as it's still strong but a bit less aggressive than the "shiatsu" in my opinion. I use it with the flap on. It's true that a blanket or towel will soften it more if you need that. The heat on the back part is decent, but if you are used to using a heating pad on high settings, you might find it lacking. For comparison, I use a big Pur heating pad on #4/5 and I'd say the massager's heat feels like maybe #3. I like how it works in a dining room chair or my recliner. You can adjust further like is mentioned...with a cushion underneath. The neck shiatsu part is very nice and strong enough to relieve the tightness. There is a "heat" option for the neck but I find it too mild for any impact. As for the "vibration", meh-I tried it, but probably won't use that feature, but used all together it's a pretty relaxing overall experience.I mainly bought this for the massage features and I realize they aren't going to be absolutely perfect in every way. That being said, I'm happy I purchased it!My perfect scenario, of course, would be having a live-in massage therapist to give me a daily massage, or one of Planet Fitness' Hydrotherapy beds installed in my home, but THAT'S not going to happen lol, so this massager is the next best thing. Their products are easy to return if it doesn't work for you. Try it!

I was pleasantly surprised by how many settings and options this massager offered. You can adjust the position of the massage on your back and neck/head. The shiatsu setting provides a good amount of pressure that goes far beyond just a vibration. It’s worth the money.

I don’t use the vibration or heat so I cannot comment. I got this so I could recline on it as my shoulder one doesn’t. This give pretty good rolling massage to my upper back and lower shoulders depending on how you maneuver yourself. The lower back gives a very light massage as it doesn’t quite lay against your lower back. If it were curved in more it would hopefully provide a deeper massage. I like the rolling function

Great value and craftsmanship

I'm 5'-2" so I'm on the edge of being too short for the neck bit. Gotta prop a pillow under the thigh mat and postition the neck portion at the lowest setting. Even getting this to work for my height, it's not comfortable. The shiatsu motion just seems to put pressure in the wrong spot, either pinching the back of my head or slamming into the top of my shoulders creating tension, and overall it pushes my neck uncomfortably forward. The majority of the time I have the neck bit turned off completely and use it as a head rest, or I'll just have the heat on. I'd be less irritated about it if the neck portion could be removed, but...it can't. Good news is that I can flip it completely around, lay it flat on our chaise and put my legs across the back. Since I'm short, my feet hit right where the neck "pillow" is located, so I get a decent foot massage out of the thing instead.The back portion though...Love it! As others mention, the shiatsu can be a little intense until you're used to it but it's less so with the included pad. If that's still too much, a blanket or heavy sweatshirt helps too, and that issue is much easier to work around than problem solving the neck section. It works well for me, and as long as my family leaves me alone while I'm using it, the experience is relaxing. I usually do a couple rounds with the shiatsu and then finish with the rolling function. Which brings me to... My only complaint about the back settings is the timer function. It's irritating that the longest setting is 15 minutes, and all your selections are reset when it does the auto shutoff. All the massage cushions I could find on Amazon had this same setting though, so there's not much I can do about it. I realize the timer is probably there because of the heat functions, but I really wish they'd they'd have the option for a straight on & off.If I were to do it again, I'd purchase one of the other models that has the same back functions, but has no neck piece. It's saved me time and money versus visiting the pros though, so in that sense it's been worth the purchase price.

I've used a couple other massagers previously, and my experience was generally positive. Bought this one as this had a full upper body capability as opposed to the smaller ones I currently have. My comparison point for this product is a massage by a human with some leeway for reasonableness given this is a machine. The first thing to notice is that this is reasonably heavy, and seems very sturdy. This is a 5 in ease to use despite the remote control that may seem initially daunting. The vibration modes are effective and provide a surprisingly deep massage, which can be "controlled" by how much weight you put on the unit. It helps quite a bit with my back and shoulders which are trouble spots. I would rate it a 4.5 on those elements compared to a real human, and easily a 5 overall. Another thing that is effective is the heat control that helps in loosening muscles. I highly recommend this for most people- the ease of use and ability to get some relief at a moment's notice is invaluable.PS: My son used it as well. If the person using it is short, you need to sit on a cushion to align properly. This worked well for him as well.
