Can this slicer cut paper-thin beef for Japanese cuisine? Thanks!

I am surprised with the answers. It does not cut paper thin... It only cuts down to the thickness of a "packaged" thin slice of ham. You will not get the very thin thickness you get at the Deli (that you must request specifically).... In other words, A very thin roast beef yes, but forget about cutting Prosciutto or very thin slice of ham.

I have used it on bulk lunch meats and block cheese. Cut both, it is not fast but I am quite happy with the purchase. I would suggest placing soft items in the freezer for 15-30 minutes to firm them up. I found this made the slicing easier.

does it work on breads????????????

Perfect for breads. I use ithis t o slices leftover breads in 1/8 inch slices for crackers or toasts. Sometimes helps to partially freeze loaves before slicing.
