Quality item but it was damaged upon arrival
Seems like good quality. Arrived with damage on the handle but I am sure it will get damaged after I use it anyway. Handle is comfortable. Comes with a nice cover for the blade that also has a belt loop. The loop does not look to be very strong.Edit:Because the product was damaged, the seller issued a full refund. I didn't not even request one. Terrific customer service! Thank you.

Last hatchet I'll ever own :)
Needed a full tang hatchet since I snapped the wood handle off mine prying at a piece of wood. This thing is a tank. I was thinking for $30 the shaft would be kinda thin....nope! The steel running into the comfortable rubber grip is thick and solid. After giving this thing a fine edge and learning to let the weight of this monster do some of the work for me, I'm hacking through branches in 1/2 the time. The sheath is a nice addition. All the people complaining that it wasn't sharp on arrival just need to get a life....just sharpen it!!

Quality
This hatchet is quality. I was going to purchase a cheaper hatchet but boy I'm glad i didn't. It's got a solid grip that never slips and it has some heft to it. Both me and my girlfriend were splitting off some kindling no problem. Thanks to Amazon Prime it arrived right on time.I do not work for Amazon or receive anything free for my reviews.

item seems to be made of good steel & the handle is comfortable in use
item seems to be made of good steel & the handle is comfortable in use. my main gripe is that I'm going to have to taper the hatchet head on both sides with a flat mill file & stone to make the hatchet really useful. as received the blade edge simply drops as a sharp wedge from the head with no real taper into the edge. that makes the hatchet not cut deeply into green or dry wood with decent size chips removed. it"s OK for splitting firewood but that would be easier with a proper taper of the head on both sides.

Sheath damage and a poor edge, but with a little love will be a good tool.
Upon opening the box, it was instantly apparent that the stitching in the end of the sheath (protecting the blade) had been cut or torn. Will make it unsafe to carry the hatchet on one’s belt. Also, the edge has been clearly lain against a grinder, and then not re-corrected the other way. There is an obvious “lip” or “fold” where the blade was not ground back the other way.I will say that the handle feels good to the touch, and the weighted head seems to be in good proportion for swinging. I do a lot of backpacking, but as stated in the title this will definitely be best used as a camp axe due to weight. Good item, but needs some closer attention paid to detail. Will attach pictures at later date.

Vast difference in quality
I work at an axe throwing lounge and saw a patron in our league throwing this model - it looked of decent quality and the price seemed more than fair. However, when mine arrived, it was embarrassingly bad compared to the one I had seen before my purchase. Included are comparison images, mine being the axe on the left in the first picture. The handle is not flush with the grip, the shaft and rear of the head are terribly uneven, and the blade is wavy rather than a straight edge. Even if my case was an outlier, I cannot recommend buying this product over Amazon as the blind nature of the purchase means anyone could be stuck with a similarly bad product.Update, 5/20: I've received two emails asking for my review of the product since this posting but no word addressing the issues I've already described.

Five Stars
Great camp axe - nicely weight-balanced. The back of the hatchet is wide-enough to double as a hammer.

2 lbs. or 1.5 lbs????
So far I like this for chopping kindling. It has plenty of weight for a 14" tool. That being said, this 2 pound camp axe is not measured the same way they measure the weight of a hammer. The whole tool weighs 2 lbs.A 16 oz Estwing hammer weighs 24 oz (1.5 lbs). So, you could say that this is a 24 oz camp axe using this method. All in all though, I like it.
