The Beautiful Poetry of Donald Trump (Canons, 8)

After reading this chapbook by the President of the United States, I had to give it five stars (Amazon wouldn’t let me give it all it deserves). It is the GREATEST, the MOST IMPORTANT book of poetry this country has produced. I enjoyed it enormously, and the sublime verse has changed not only how I view poetry, but how I see the world.Reading this, I can only hope that Mr. Trump would give up his government job and truly devote himself to his muse, spending his time creating this beautiful, beautiful poetry the world needs so much![To be clear, nothing in this book is “anti-Trump”. It’s all the President’s own words, simply rearranged a bit for the sake of meter, rhyme, or syllabification.]

As others have said the content (restricted to what Trump has said), is not as good as the cover. But some are quite outstanding as was the first review posted in Trump-speak. Perfect coffee table book!

I decided why not have a great laugh and use this book as a party gift (major gag gift + added toilet paper to it with his face on it). Not only did it get laughs but everyone wanted to see it, read it, shaking their heads while realizing he said some really stupid things, very very Bigly Stupid Things.

I loved this book. Very entertaining. Thought provoking and right on the mark. I love our President. He's not a politician, just a very smart businessman who running the Country as a business which makes our Country a smooth sail. Too bad, there are people that just don't get it. That's because narcissism is rampant.

Some pretty good gems in there if you're willing to venture that far down the mine.

First, the cover photo is priceless. The writer uses quotes from Donny Jo to write haiku's and other poems. I appreciate that each quote has the reference noted so I can research the context and situation.

Makes a great gag gift for Trump lovers and Trump haters. Everyone found it funny at a party we attended. Ended up being passed around the whole group and everyone got a good chuckle.

Ganz ehrlich, ich bin nicht wirklich zufrieden mit diesem Buch. Es macht Spaß, sich damit zu fotografieren, es Leuten zu zeigen, es ist ein lustiges Gesprächsthema, mehr aber auch nicht. Ich habe mir den Band besorgt, nachdem ich vom gleichen Autor eine wirklich großartige Bearbeitung einer Trump-Rede auf Facebook gelesen habe, bei der dieser wenig verändert hat, vor allem eigentlich die Zeilen umgestellt, so dass es sich liest wie moderne Lyrik. Und das klang wirklich gut und "demaskierte" nicht nur Trumps freie Assoziation, sondern vor allem auch einen Gutteil der modernen Lyrik, die ja tatsächlich oft nicht mehr ist als Gedankenfetzen, oft mit Agenda, willkürlich in Zeilen gebrochen. In diesem Band dagegen sind in klassischer cut-up Technik die Texte aus ganz verschiedenen Reden zusammengestückelt (so dass die Gedankensprünge eben nicht "trumpsch sind", sondern ihm in den Mund gelegt), reichen dabei aber niemals das Niveau jener einzelnen Trump Rede heran (was auch den Biss gegen Moderne Lyrik entschärft.Wenn das Original so deutlich besser ist als die Bearbeitungen, obwohl das Original nicht von einem Dichter stammt, enttäuscht die Bearbeitung. Man kann es natürlich auch andersherum sehen: Der Autor hat vielleicht mit der Zeit seine Technik verfeinert und festgestellt, dass er das Material mehr selbst sprechen lassen muss. Vielleicht folgt ja nach dem Abschied aus dem Weißen Haus ein weiterer Band mit reiferen Trump Gedichten.

Collection of poems made up from a mixture of sentences from statements by the President himself. So, it picks-and-chooses sentences from a multitude of states to form a ‘poem’.A bit of fun if nothing else and some are funny. And, probably shouldn’t be too unexpected, some sentences are outrageous. Author provides footnote references to each sentence, which is nice.Given as gift.

An amusing premise - but should be a blog, or series of Facebook posts. Slightly regretted buying this as a Secret Santa gift at work - because, whilst we're mocking Trump, we're still talking about him. And that's all he ever wanted. And he said and did so many terrible things. Also, I think with more effort, some bigger laughs could have been got from the subject material. The man said mad stuff all the time.

Could have been a lot better but I am biased as I am a poet. Great novelty gift though :)
