Product Description Schoolgirl Agnes (Rebecca Liljeberg) has a crush on her classmate Elin (Alexandra Dahlström), but while Agnes is a loner, Elin is one of the popular people, and the chance that she might reciprocate Agnes' feelings seems too remote. However, when the boredom of a night in smalltown Amal throws the two of them together, they discover a mutual wish to escape their confines, attempt to hitchhike to Stockholm, and eventually kiss. Agnes is excited that Elin has finally noticed her, but will Elin be able to overcome her discomfort at the thought of loving another girl? From .co.uk Show Me Love is writer/director Lukas Moodyson's brilliant first feature, set in a small town called Amal where nothing exciting ever happens. As far as 16-year-old Elin is concerned, it has to be the dullest town in the world (raves are out of fashion before they even have one), and the spotty boys are even more mind-numbing--destined to fumble their way through the few teenage years left to them before taking inevitable jobs as mechanics and factory workers. Elin's classmate, the achingly shy Agnes, hates Amal too and slowly, over the course of the film and against all odds, the two discover a real and tender connection emerging between them.n As with his follow-up sensation, Together, Moodyson directs his young actors with a subtlety that refuses to patronise or sentimentalise the emotions (all too rare in films about young people and a welcome antidote to the recent spate of mindless US teen flics). As Moodyson understands, adolescence is often the most emotionally grim period of a person's life: teenagers can be absolutely barbaric to each other. That's why the fragile romance that develops between Elin and Agnes is all the more moving, courageous and perhaps even revolutionary. Show Me Love will leave you with a huge grin on your face as Elin and Agnes finally get their triumphant kiss to strains of "I Want to Know What Love Is". If you love good cinema, all indications point towards Moodyson and Sweden being the new face and place to watch: this, his debut film, beat Titanic at the box office in Sweden when released. --Tricia Tuttle

beautiful in every way!
I remember the night i first watched this film it was actually a lesbian film night and i was fascinated at how this film truly portrayed exaclty what i was feeling at the time. I was the shy girl who fell for her classmate i was still only 15 or 16 at the time i watched it. Ive never forgotten it it is the best lesbian genre film i have seen in a long time! of course thats my opinion but the fact that it is a happy ending makes me feel even better about it! WATCH IT! BUY IT! DO ANYTHING TO GET YOUR HANDS ON IT! BRILLIANT FILM!

The best love story I've seen
This is a touching dramatic and funny film about first love. The lead actors are just right for the role and I honestly can't think of a bad note for the film.As a heterosexual man in his 40s I doubt I was the film's target audience, but I loved every minute of it.The comedy is subtle like the acting, wry rather than obvious. If you want a love story - buy it.If you like intelligent films - buy it.If you want a teenage sex romp - go buy something like American Pie.You won't find it here.I will never think of drinking chocolate the same way again...

Girls' crush
Well-acted documentary style film about a confused young girl, friendless and suffocating in an over-protective home, and her crush on one of her class-mates. She dresses and behaves in such a manner that rumours of her lesbianism are rife amongst her peers, but she continues to dream that maybe her love will be recognised and accepted. As much a look at people's unfair attitudes to homosexuality as at growing up, the movie is no classic but well worth a look. A typical European slice of real life fortunately, rather than sanitised fodder for the masses. Gritty, painful to watch at times, but life affirming as well.

The only teenage movie
This is just a fantastic film. Set against the background of a small Swedish town, Agnes and Elin, two girls in their teens, have to find who they are and where they are going in a society with clear and fixed expectations. It is just lovely

Please tell us if a film doesn't have English subtitles
I'm sure it's great but I don't speak Swedish and this version (Raus Aus Amal) has no English subtitle option. I don't think this was clear from the product description, but maybe I missed it.
