Probably the best strainer on the market. Fits perfectly in the shaker and mixling glass too. Strings are so dense which keeps even tiny ice chips inside, not letting it through. No need for fine strainer.

Compare this to a regular straining and you will feel the difference. Super top quality device, happy with purchase.

I love a Manhattan now and then. We did not have a bar strainer so checked Amazon. Have used it for a few months and we are very happy with it. Finish is good. Nice heft to it. Seems well made. I would purchase it again.

If you're looking at Hawthorne strainers, you're probably getting at least a bit serious about cocktails. I'm not quite full bore (no, I don't have a set up for making smoked cocktails) but I've been at it for a while and this is a nice piece of gear. It's well designed, solid, and has a high-quality spring (unlike the cheap loosely wound springs you see on the junk versions you'll see in a grocery store). Easily recommended - you'll be happy with it.

I love my glass of orange juice ice cold, but I don't like the ice cubes that water it down. I have an old cocktail strainer that belonged to my grandparents, but the coils are so big that it doesn't rest on top of a glass. I have to use both of my hands to hold it and strain the ice cubes. I finally decided to order The Art of Craft Hawthorne Strainer that appears to be of good quality. I am very happy it has finer and smaller coils to easily lay on the top of a glass for "one-handed" straining. You can see my comparison photos. It does a great job "filtering out ice shards and fruit pulp," and feels a little bit heavier than my old one, but it isn't stamped 304 stainless steel as listed on the Product's Page. My old strainer does say "stainless steel." That is the only reason I gave this one 4 stars. It's a great cocktail strainer and worth the price, if it doesn't eventually corrode.
