Mostly fiction and misinterpretation
This book is a testament to having a single idea and seeing it through despite all the contrary evidence. The scholarship is non-existent. All Gibson does is either make 'facts' up or twist existing evidence around to fit his preconceived idea. He clearly knows nothing about the archaeology of Petra in the Islamic period, but that doesn't stop him making it up. It's farcical. No wonder no respected scholars take it seriously and it has not been reviewed in any proper academic journal - no reviewer would know where to start with all the mistakes, fiction and misinterpretation
