Q: Can I spray this around plants outside? Rats are digging up all my planters

I suggest you contact manufacturers. As far as I am aware, it is harmless to humans and animals - mice and rats just don't like the smell and therefore it is a very good deterrent and it has worked - no longer have the little miscreants in my garage. Perhaps, if you spray the planters, avoiding your plants - hey presto - problem solved :)
