One of the Best Storybook Bibles!
I bought this for my 7 year old nephew and was so impressed with it that I bought one for myself! Sometimes it’s surprisingly refreshing to just sit down with the Bible and read it from beginning to end and because I never had such a nice Bible as a child, perhaps I’m making up for lost years!Reading the Bible from cover to cover is normally a mammoth task but is made entirely possible by a clever retelling of events. The story of God’s character, holiness and love, shine through on every page and it’s condensed storytelling at its best. This Bible captures all the well known (and many lesser known) stories and weaves them into one continuous account of God’s unfolding plan of salvation for mankind and beyond. The simple narration misses nothing out of the lovely spiritual depth and meaning and it does this better than most story bibles I’ve encountered. The colourful realistic illustrations on every page are a real bonus and help bring it all alive. The language may be more suitable for the slightly older child, probably from ages 7-12 as there are some long words that will need explaining. However, I personally like the fact that it doesn’t dumb the kids down.A beautiful book then, and a real classic that would make a lovely family heirloom; all at a very reasonable price. The only downside..? I was surprised at the lack of presentation page for giving as a gift. It would have been nice to have inscribed the name of my nephew at the front, which would have given the more personal touch. That’s a minor gripe though and the only ‘fault’ I could find.

Even atheists like it!
I’m atheist and I bought this to read with my 7 yo son. My son attends a local non-faith school where they learn about religions, and this approach present Christianity as one religion among many, covering Christianity beyond Christmas in very little detail. This is problematic because not only is Christianity the State religion in the UK it is so much a part of the culture - you cannot hope to understand British history without a full understanding of Western Christianity, just as you cannot underestimate the impact the King James Bible had on English Literature and the turns of phrase many native Brits still use to this day.For this reason I bought this book to read with my son to start building his understanding of the Bible stories, characters and teachings. It is a very lovely book with each story set to a page or two with just enough illustrations to assist the text without distraction from it. As anyone who has actually read the Bible will know, there is much death, destruction and rape etc in the Old Testament. This book presents outlines of the stories with the worst of the gore and horror removed so it is appropriate for young readers.Highly recommend.

Great Old Testament, Gospel stories and the Book of Acts
The grand children love this book and I love reading it to them. Since it is mainly stories rather than doctrine it is a bit thin on the epistles and a revelation. Well worth having beside the bed in the spare room for when the children stay over.

Wonderfully displayed Bible stories and scenic views
Wonderfully displayed Children's Bible stories, and scenic views. I have no children of this age, therefore I bought it for myself. I was brought up in a Christian environment among 4 sisters and 2 brothers. We were encouraged to read the Bible which in those days did not have pictures like these modern day ones. I thoroughly enjoy reading these transformed and well illustrated Children's Bible offering a story a day for a whole year, (365 days)This is marvelous, each picture tells a story. I love it.

Excellent Children's Bible
I've been reading this ever night with my daughter and it's kept her engaged. It's very nostalgic as it's filled with water colour images just like the old lady bird books. Also it's written without any modern influences and in a way that doesn't dumb down the language. It was first published in 1985 and then updated in 1995. Highly recommend.
