Silverline Soft-Grip Impact Driver Set 14pce (375291)

I have an old and neglected engineers' vise that I wanted the removethe jaws from to exchange them for copper ones. After decades of rust and dirt the screws wouldn't budge. Ummed and aaahed over more expensive tools, but thought that I'd give this a go, and if it didn't work, well, 12 quid I'd get over.Duly set it up in the first screw, WHACK WHACK and out it came. Second same story. The remaining two gave me a few minutes of resistance, but in the end out they came. If I'd tried this with a conventional screwdriver it would've cammed out, or mangled the head, or broken - I now have 4 intact screws, two nicely removed jaws and a nice sense of achievement. No idea how long this tool will last, but it did the job I bought it for splendidly, so I'm very happy.

I used the bits about 4 times to undo the screw for the car's rotors. Unfortunately it broke off as soon as I was hitting the driver.The impact driver's alright, it's the bits that qas the problem. I broke 2 of the bits when using the driver.

Like another reviewer, I found that the rubber handle caused more problems that it solved. It 'migrated' up the impact driver as it was struck and made it difficult to use. I just cut it off and replaced it with self-adhesive canvass tape. Otherwise, it works very well and comes with a useful selection of bits, plus the 1/4" drive means that it can be used with sockets as well. Another good value product from Silverline.

I ordered one for my dad as part of a Christmas set and it has done the job. In fact, we ordered another one as a Christmas gift for a family friend who pretty has two sets of all work tools and he didn't have one of these and he loved it too!

As a mechanic i have used impact drivers for a long time and after my last one broke i just wanted a cheap one. And thats what you should expect in terms of design. The impact driver works and works well but I was looking for one with a hand guard. It is great to have a 1/2” drive adaptor built into the driver, so you can get rid of the soft bits that come with it, for decent sockets etc. The main problem with this item is the whole (blue) handle/hand guard is not attached to the main body of the impact driver so when you hold the driver and strike it all the force is lost from hitting it. I took the plastic body off from the driver and use it that way.

This tool is incredible. I purchased it with quite a lot of doubt as to if it really would get the screws out that I was struggling with in my kitchen wall. I had tried everything from normal tools to freeing oil etc and they didn't budge an inch. This tool arrived today and I had them out within five minutes. Absolutely awesome. So often these 'life hack' style tools aren't as good as you think they will be but this actually exceeds my expectations. Top class and great value.

I removed the item from the box and followed the instructions to leave it set to anticlockwise, the collar turned with difficulty, grinding as it turned and then siezed, it's now stuck and changes from clockwise to anticlockwise at random. Totally unusable, please avoid this item.

Worked for stubborn screw in wall. No other tool I had coped. This did.

Funzionale,semplice nell'uso, robusto. Mi ha tolto dagli impicci senza problemi con viti della ventola fissata al volano di un vecchio motore che non sono riuscito a togliere in altro modo. Molto bene.
