Great Snags (Australian for bangers)
Early in our married life (almost 40 years ago) my wife and I bought a metal hand mincer. It was not a success, it constantly had to be taken apart to free the blades from chewed up meat detritus. So, having got fed up with commercially available sausages, it was with some trepidation that we ordered this kit. Hoewever we were very suprised; perhaps the quality of meat has improved. The grinder works very well, plastic it might be but it is easy to use, functions very well and so easy to clean. I have made two lots of sausages and they have turned out very well. The ingredients provided give good flavour and the recipe provided is simple to follow. However the instructions for use of the equipment could have been clearer. For example how much to fill the sausage skin to allow for linking. I have also made some excellent minced beef; I do not like shop bought mince but this is good. The only disappointment is the lack of alternate recipes for sausages. The supplies work well and allow you to experiment but I would suggest that twice the amount of collagen tubing is needed if you are going to use all the ingredients. It is tedious and time consuming to mince a full kilo of pork and then stuff the sausages, which really is a two person job as the hopper needs filling and pressing down constantly, it can be done with one pair of hands but does take more time. Had I known how good modern mincers are I would have bought a motorised one, but only to save time as I cannot really fault this mincer.I am now going to see if I can produce home made pasta as the mincer comes with pasta making attachments.

Lack of Instructions
This is difficult because we are leaving stars based on postage. I would say that side of things was excellent. The box contained everything as described. The flavourings are excellent. The mincer however came with no instructions as to how to put it together or what the left over pieces were for etc. Made a few trial and errors before I got it right, and I may not have got it right yet as I find it very difficult to use. Instructions would have helped. Perhaps it was just my box. You really need two people to use this, and a certain amount of strength, otherwise the meat just sits on top, needs to be pushed down. All that said though, it is a great reasonably priced kit to give sausage making a go and see if it is for you before splashing out on something a bit more pricey.

Homemade sausages
I made my 1st batch of sausages and they were very good and tasty. The only downside is that the mincer takes ages to grind down the pork and you have to manually push down the meat constantly. It is exhausting work, therefore you do need to be quite fit and have good arm muscles to use this kit. Even though the resulting product was lovely, I'm dredding making the next batch! On a positive note, after all the hard work, it is a very easy machine to clean.

First time user
A great introduction into sausage making.Had the machine 5/6 months but only just got around to making sausages. Tried the Olde English mix - great flavour, looking forward to using the other seasonings. The machine:- had a lot of trouble making it to stay stuck to a tiled work top. The metal bits cutter and discs are not dishwasher proof. The sausage mix easily clogs up the discs first time through. All in all a fun machine to get started and great entertainment, no doubt with practice the art of sausage making will be mastered so that an electric version will be needed.

Seems expensive for what you get, but works fine
The mincer seems a bit fragile but worked OK. However, it worked perfectly when used as a sausage stuffer. The sausages made using the kit taste much much better than anything I've ever had from the shops.

Bonzza Sausage Making Kit
It was too much hard work for one person. Mince grinder kept slipping about the worktop. Too much strain in the upper arm. When feeding the mince meat through the sausage skin you would need the assistance of three people. I gave up in the end and bought an electric mincer⦠far easier and quicker.

Bangers 'R us!
Great item, although the stuffing process is quite tedious. The sausage meat needs constant pushing down into the machine to ensure that feeding is maintained. The instructions could be better - is the unit dishwasher safe, for example? Altogether a good buy.
