Tala Stainless Steel Oven Thermometer with Celsius and Fahrenheit Colour coded markings, can stand or hang

Good clear dial although it does discolour a little after being in a hot oven for several hours. I have used mine to calibrate the oven temperature of a new esse wood burning oven (aga type) where the dial says cool hot and very hot - no good for baking. I have not compared this thermometer to any others but using this as a guide in my oven has produced good results with no burning and cakes etc have turned out very well. The only nit pick is it does not hang securely from my wire shelves and falls off easily but this could be the size of the bars on the shelves in my oven. It is also a bit wobbly - falls over easily when stood up -other wise it would have 5 stars. For the money you can't go wrong - works as expected.

Temp gauge worked perfectly to set temp for my craft projects

Bought this item a few months ago because when I was baking, things weren't baking at the right time at the temperature my oven was supposedly at.When I received the item, I tested it in my oven and it was slightly over what I had put it at, so now I know the right temperature to use it at. I've used it on several ovens (I move around quite a lot) so it is great that it allows me to do reliable baking wherever I am!I tend to put it in the oven when I turn it on, check it is at the right temperature before I put my food in, then just leave it in. It has not been affected by the heat at all and it cools down nice and quickly once removed. It sits or hangs in the oven and you can see quite clearly if you get level with it once it is in the oven.I'd certainly recommend this as an oven thermometer.

Bought this thermometer for an AGA and it got stuck at 150C deg. and appears to have 'melted' despite the AGA only running on low.

bought the thermometer to test the temperature of my gas oven .tested it out first in my new Wolfgang Puck electric ovenwhich indicated the thermometer is 10 degrees C lower than it should be, so I tested the temperature of the gas ovenand allowing for the error, indicated the gas oven temp is 30 degrees C hotter than it should be. confirming my suspicion.Overall,a handy tool. but put on a baking tray in the oven to use it .

I wasn't convinced the two ovens in our range were cooking at the same temperature (gas mark). Bought this and it confirms my suspicions. About 20-30 degrees difference between the two ovens at the same setting. One oven at the correct temperature and the other is too low. Now have this thermometer in the faulty side so that we can ensure we cook at the correct temperature.The thermometer seems robust. We have it hanging from the shelf and it sits flush with the shelf. You can also have it free-standing if you choose. The dial is easy to read even if it is biased towards Fahrenheit with Celcius on the inner side of the gauge. We haven't noticed it discolouring yet unlike some of the other reviewers.Overall a good buy at a reasonable price.

A useful little product to have when you need an accurate oven temperature for your dish.. My oven is out about 50 degrees C and apparently this is not unusual so its handy to be able to adjust the temperature to get the exact heat I actually need.Only negative thing is its a bit unstable on the shelf. I haven't worked out the unusual shape of the stand but have failed to fit it on my shelves so that the dial is visible. I just have to sit it on the shelf and it knocks over easily. Just a small niggle.

This seems to confirm my ovens own thermostat as it registers the same temperature that I set my oven to which is reassuring.What I am unsure about is that when my oven thermostat light goes out, signifying that the set temperature has been reached, the Tala lags behing quite considerably and can take upto 1 hour to display my ovens set temperature.I think this is an issue with the Tala as I do not think the unit should take this long to creep up slowly to my ovens set temperature.
