Seaweeds of Britain and Ireland: Second Edition: 9 (Wild Nature Press)

Excellent book on this subject, sounds niche but of potential interest to millions
Has everything from identifying guide, to photographs, to maps, to detailed descriptions, to biology/genetics. And yet in a handy size. How had I not known this existed? I guess as neither garden centres nor bookshops care about seaweeds, despite much of the UK population living within 2h drive of the coast. It is a landmark classic authoritative useful guide.

Lay out and information is excellent
I love the lay out... it is easy to navigate even for a beginner like me.

Very useful but read full review
Excellent book for the coastal explorer, I undertake marine surveys and needed a visual guide to go along with my technical guides, sometimes the pictures makes it all crystal clear on that tricky id. The book could have been better, some species could do with more pictures and the 'can be confused with' descriptions should clearly show the separating features. I would recommend the book to anyone who knows little about seaweeds, it will help you id many but strongly suggest you use it as I do along with a more scientific text based works such as Fish and Fish. Marine identification is difficult and to get a 'does it all guide' is impossible, this one should be part of your collection.

Good photos and information however the font is minuscule

The Only Book I Need
Having only just started getting into seaweed, due to a volunteer role I have now taken on, my thirst for knowledge is vast. I started with a little pocket guide but that was leaving me frustrated. This guide is fantastic and gets me to identification quickly. Whilst it's not a pocket guide, it is easy to carry around and a must for any seaweed enthusiast.
