Are these cheap chinese copies from Alibaba or the real thing, will I need to upgrade my ECU software after I fit these, is it Â£29.99 for 1 or 2.

These are original Borg Warner Solenoids, they are priced at £29.99 each. If the solenoids that you remove from the valve body have either a white or pink plug, you will need to upgrade the software for Borg Warner capatabillity.

hi, yes it is quite an easy job to do, also if you google al4 solonoid replacement there will be more detailed information but in a quick summary, drain auto box fluid, remove air filter and ducting pipes, remove the 4 torq bolts which hold the inspection plate on, then you will see the valve housing, the only tricky part is the refiting of the gear locking selector at the top,take note how it fits before removing the bolt which will release the manual vavlve index spring. adjustment on this is most important when refiting, u'll notice theres a bar which runs through and holds the the gear lock. then remove all the bolts an let the valve body dangle down carefully minding the wires, then just remove the solonoid(recommended to replace both, they are the same valve). refit the valve body, can be a bit awkward, but once its in then instead of needing a special tool you have assemble the load index spring(think it was easier with gear stick in 1 position) just leave the 2 bolts a bit loose and push with ur finger as hard as you can so the spring flatens out then tighten the bolts (if its not quite 100% you can adjust the gear position sensor on top of the box. make sure this is right before refitting the cover by turning the ignition on an making sure all the gears on the stick corrolate with whats on the dash and make sure park engages and disengages. once your happy refit the cover and on top of the box undo the fill plug (not the obvious looking plugs its further back next to the gear change cable. then just refill with 2 litres of dexron 3 and refit all components and go for a good road test.hope this helpsGlen

I would definitely  rekommend you to charge both at the same time. The pressure actuator is the one that breakdance downlight most frequently, but the oter one, the lock-up actuator could fellow just some weeks later. These actuators are a very weak components in the AL-4 gearboxes, and causes lot of trouble. Pls also be aware that if the old actuators have yellow connectors, you have to have your gearbox ECU program utdated, as the old type workshop on 50 hrz, whole todays version, with black connectors, works on 100 hrz.
