Does anyone experience buzzing and scratching coming from the mics? Mine buzz and fuzz all the time...

Can you describe your setup? What kind of preamp are you using, do you have a power conditioner, what kind of interface or board are you running the signal into? Sometimes, something as simple as a bad cable or dusty pot can add fuzz or noise to your audio signal. This is more likely to be the case if more than one mic is sounding bad.On the other hand, if these are the only mics that sound bad in your current setup, then it could possibly be a quality control or shipping condition (these mics ride in container ships from China) issue.Personally, I've never had a bad experience with my MXL mics, but a friend of mine who has the 990/991 set had the diaphragm in his pencil mic go out, so it's certainly a possibility.

What is phantom power?

Phantom power is a power supply used to power condenser mics. The standanrd voltage on phantom power is 48v, but some mics may vary.

does the bundle come with a shockmount for the 990?

No, but there is a set where the 990 comes by itself with a shockmount. Sadly this one does not include a shockmount

990/991 combo or the v67g for my youtube gaming channel? (i have an audio mixer /w 45-48v phantom power) i am upgrading from my sf-666 mic.

Either one of those choices will require phantom power, have a cardio pattern (where the mic picks up), and are XLR They begin to deviate a bit tone wise but you can adjust that, also with two mics you have more variety to how you can capture voice. The V67g come in a pouch while the 990/991 are housed in a hard shell, pelican like case. You may like to know I've recorded podcasts and conversations and the 990 picks up everything in the room which can be good or bad depending on your environment.
