Versatile, well designed and made
I wanted a small rawhide hammer with some heft behind it, so the combination of a cast iron head with replaceable inserts was attractive and a bonus for me is that there is also a solid copper insert. I do small-scale metalwork so the hide/copper arrangement is perfect. I've had a bad experience with a poorly made rawhide mallet but the build and finish of this product are excellent. Thor turns out to be a British manufacturer with a huge range of specialised 'soft' hammers and mallets; I emailed their technical department for advice on how to condition the rawhide and I received a detailed and helpful reply. The short answer though was just use it: if you sand it, soak it or bash it on a kerbstone (popular advice on YouTube) you will damage the carefully prepared hide material. My only small complaint is that the copper face isn't as smooth and polished as Thor's photos suggest but in use the soft copper gets dinged anyway. Finally, this hammer comes in many sizes and replacement inserts are easy to buy online.

TRADITIONAL QUALITY BUILD STANDARDS
Solid, useful, relaible, and built to last from genuine materials. I may just scrape off the varnish to apply BLO, but that's a given with most tools nowadays. Good for leathercraft, woodworking, gunsmithing etc., Highly recommended.

Good soft hammer, with minor finishing imperfections
Bought for minor gunsmithing tasks like tapping out pins; drifting bicycle bearings out; and assembling Ikea furniture with dowels. Good size and feels well made. The copper head is not that well finished though, with a number of gouges in it, so -1*. But still serviceable. The sticky barcode label residue comes off with rubbing alcohol.

Size is deceptive
It's not that big but it has a lovely weight to it, the handle is long enough to get a decent swing ,ideal for home garage use for motorcycle/bicycle mechanic/owners and of course around the home.

Toffee Hammer
For use as a toffee hammer it will be great. For working on my car, not so good.It was far smaller than I expected and gave me a good laugh when I received it. My fault for not checking the size and it is good quality so may as well keep it in the toolbox for a laugh....

perfect for a bicycle mechanic
Love this hammer. As a bike mechanic it's just right as it doesn't damage the parts which need a bit od =f persuasion . It is also a thing of beauty made from wood, copper lead and steel.

Great jewellery hammer
I actually use this slot now for my Jewell making. The copper addition flat side is so convenient and doesn’t make up your metal… the weight is excellent.. heavy but not too much, that bit more weight that makes your jewellery making easier.
