Invaluable resource for fans of gialli
Troy Howarth has done every genre fan a service here by writing a thorough, insightful, and detailed compendium of giallo films. Each entry breaks down key members of cast and crew, gives an informative but spoiler-free synopsis of the film in question, and ends in an analysis of major themes and a review of the work as a whole. You will also find gorgeous full-colour prints of posters and promotional stills, highlighting the indomitable artistic flair of the subgenre. Worth every penny.N.B. - Pt. 1 covers films released between 1963-1973, and includes an excellent introduction by Ernesto Gastaldi: in which he highlights the narrative and cinematic elements that make a movie classifiable as a gialli.

I’m in love
This is a great book. Unmissable for the fans of the genre (‘filone’). It’s informative as well as entertaining. The theory section is over too soon, I would have loved to read more about the history and development of the genre, but for that there’s plenty of other books around. Right now I’m enjoying the film section and watching every single film as I read about them.

An educational insight into the wonderful world of Giallo. A little 'wordy' perhaps but nevertheless a good tome.
