This exclusive edition of Michael Jackson’s revolutionary 1979 recording Off The Wall includes the original album bundled with the new documentary Michael Jackson’s Journey from Motown to Off the Wall, directed by Spike Lee. The deluxe softpak includes a 16-page booklet containing a new essay and photography plus a piece of chalk and inside panels with a chalkboard finish. The importance of Michael Jackson’s Off the Wall cannot be overstated. Recorded when he was just 20-years-old, the album heralded Michael’s emancipation as a singular musical force and creative visionary. It’s the record that “invented modern pop as we know it” according to Rolling Stone magazine. It smashed the ceiling on record sales for black artists, ushering in an exciting new era of R&B-to-pop crossover airplay, chart, marketing and sales trends not seen before in modern pop music. Written by Michael Jackson, the first single from Off The Wall, “Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough,” was Michael’s first Grammy and first single to hit No. 1 in the U.S. and internationally as a solo artist. With the singles “Rock With You,” “Off the Wall” and “She’s Out of My Life,” Jackson became the first solo artist in history to have four singles from the same album peak inside the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100. For Michael Jackson’s Journey from Motown to Off the Wall, director Spike Lee assembles a wealth of archival footage, including material from Michael’s personal archive, interviews with contemporary talents and family members, and Michael’s own words and image to create this insightful chronicle from the star’s early rise to fame through the release of this seminal album. A look at a chapter of his career that is rarely examined, Michael Jackson’s Journey from Motown to Off the Wall allows audiences to travel with Michael as he gets his start at Motown, strikes a new path with CBS Records, and forges a relationship with legendary producer Quincy Jones. An illuminated portrait emerges of how an earnest, passionate, hard-working boy would become the “King of Pop.” Track Listing:CD: 1. Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough 2. Rock With You 3. The story is told coherently and I love the track by track presentation
Having bought the vinyl version the day it was released in the UK, and updated to CD some years ago, I now own three copies of this sublime album. Familiarity has certainly not bred contempt! Each time I play it I am as thrilled as I was the first time I heard it. The same goes for the first Jackson 5 single, I want you back. You see, I'm a diehard MJ/J5/ Jacksons fan, who owns everything they've released, and so the DVD of Michael's journey to Off the Wall is a very welcome addition to the collection. The story is told coherently and I love the track by track presentation. It is just wonderful to see the beautiful MJ and his brothers in their pomp and to see so much previously unseen footage! We fans owe the Michael Jackson Estate and Spike Lee many thanks for making this material available to us. My one gripe is the inclusion of David Byrne, from Talking Heads. What exactly was his contribution?

Live life "Off The Wall"
This is Michael Jackson at his finest! This is where life away from Motown, and his brothers, this is quite possibly one of if not his finest album ever created, without this, their wouldn't be Thriller, the biggest selling album of all time, or Bad, the second biggest! Even after all these years since its first release its still with the times of today and far greater than what's out their in modern times! The DVD is a wonderful watch, from those who worked on the album with Quincy Jones to those who fell in love with Mike ! It was also a time before all those scandalous lies made about him! Forgot those disgusting lies and false allegations and live life off the wall

Lots of love for this album
More please. Nice to see lots of footage I'd never ever seen before. Lots of photos and info I never saw or read before. Very interesting stuff. I think this documentary is on par with Bad 25, would love someone to dust off the Jacksons Live Tour and Triumph Tour tapes and release those next. Jackie and Randy are interview and are lovely. Jermaine and Latoya are excluded for a nice change :-)

5 stars for the CD and Blu Ray but let down by packaging
Classic MJ album packed with Spike Lee documentry Journey from Motown to Off the wall on Blu Ray. My only gripe is the way the item is presented in cardboard style cd case which I hate. Should have been prsented in a Blu Ray plastic case with the booklet packed with info and photos as MJ is no longer with us it would have been nice to have something more collectable.

Fantastic package, terrible packaging
The Off The Wall album itself should speak for itself for most people, but if you're a younger music fan who's maybe only getting into Michael Jackson's music now, what you'll find here is his most toe-tapping album, with a brilliant selection of disco tracks that will have you dancing the night away. This new version is also accompanied by a fantastic documentary by Spike Lee, covering Jackson's life from his early days in Motown up to the release of Off The Wall. I'm a fairly massive MJ fan but there was plenty of stuff in here I hadn't seen before, so it's massively recommended.Sadly, much as I'd love to give this a full five stars, the packing is shambolic. As you can see in the photos, it comes in a plastic case (which is a really tight fit, making it a nightmare to get the cardboard wallet out of) and comes with chalk and a wall background, with the aim being that you have to draw your own designs and upload them on social networks (i.e. helping them promote the release). The chalk is rubbish, the 'wall' is too glossy so it's hard to draw/write on and overall it's just a horrible package – it's far too much hassle to get the discs out each time.Really though, don't let that put you off. This is still one of the greatest albums of all time, accompanied by a fantastic documentary which is worth the double-dip if you already own the album.

Shamone & Buy It!
The music doesn't age - class is perminant. All the songs are as expected and the Spike Lee documentary is intelligently done. The packaging and presentation is thoughtfully produced and the price is generous towards the fans. You're getting what money can't buy for everything that money is buying, it's pure value for money, shamone!
