Love this book of word origins! Educational and fun!! Win win!

I bought this book as a gift for a friend who loves it and let me have a peek - it is a really nice way to spend time flicking through at random and seeing what word back stories you come across

Excellent product, though there were hairline scratches on the back, and a small amount of creasing / ripping around the top pages of the B section. Otherwise, really quick delivery and an overall great product.

I love this book!Anyone has any interest in language would or should enjoy it.The origins of french,latin and 'roots' of words make you look at english from a slight angle and have better understanding of it.

Very interesting information about word origins. But print ever so small as there are two columns, I think the layout could have been better.

Absolutely fascinating as I have a real interest in language. Great companion to Oxford dictionaries of Proverbs and Idioms which I already have.

I own an older version and a friend of mine enjoyed it so much I bought 3 of Oxfords books to enjoy with him. Remember Ad Libs when you were a kid? These are much more fun to share, especially on long car rides.

This item was purchased as a gift for my grandson, who has shown a strong interest in the evolution of language. If the book is not too advanced for him, he should find it very interesting.

Es un diccionario del que difícilmente te podrás despegar una vez que lo coges. Es muy interesante descubrir el origen de cada palabra, y además muchas vienen acompañadas de expresiones que las incluyen.Quizás no es el diccionario etimológico más completo que puedas encontrar, ya que no aparecen todas las palabras que existen, pero desde luego merece la pena ahondar en las que incluye.Totalmente recomendable.

Interesting concerning basic vocabulary, but the etymology of common idioms leaves to be desired. I have found better responses on internet.
